Title: bandit newb in dire need of direction
Post by: mr200t on January 10, 2009, 09:43:17 AM
i recently purchased a 92 b4 off of friend. i heart the bike but it needs something. im looking into the 442cc kit(need website) also the gixxer750 front end work(i think thats tight)...but where should i go to get the stock headlamp and such because this bike has a god-aweful "streetfighter front". other things i want for the bike include bellypan(will the 600 fit?), and solo seat cowl(again will a 600 fit?) last thing is what is the biggest tire i can fit back there without modding?

apologies for all the newb questions,
mike

 :congrats:  and   :welcome:

No clue on the 422 kit.  I don't think gsxr400racer is selling them here anymore.

You can get a chrome ringed bucket headlight lots of places.  Lots of bikes used them (other naked bandits, sv's, hornets...).  The trick will be finding brackets to go around the USD forks.  I think Holeshot (http://www.holeshot.com) has them.

Belly pan and the solo cowl will be tough.  I don't know that anyone makes them anymore.  I'm not sure where you are but your best bet may be finding them in Europe where there are more B4s on the road.  Wild Hair Accessories here in the US used to carry the cowl but I doubt they do anymore and it was pretty spendy.

You can fit a 160 rear but most recommend against it because it will negatively impact handling.  Search around there are LOTS of posts here about that....

Good luck!

Hi Mike,
Dont think you can get the seat cowl any more think they were made by gimble?
You can get a B4 bellypan in the UK its made by Powerbronze, you can get one from
www.demon-tweeks.co.uk cheaper than direct and they sell in £,$ or euros they ars £69 or $101 but then there is postage to add.

Seat cowls and belly pans are still available from Gimbel, a German manufacturer. Prices on eBay are 100 euros for the seat cowl, sprayed and 20 euros for the belly pan, unsprayed. I have both for sale since I'm selling all my spare Bandit parts.

Other than some of the more generic parts (brakes and so forth), there's very little on the B4 common with anything including the B6.

I had the Gimble cowl on my B4.  Very nice, quality piece.

food for thought you get 8 hp with the kit with no other mods thats $140.00 per 1 HP worth it in my book...

So basically a 13% increase in power from a 10% increase in displacement...seems like it's on the right-side of the percentages.
I'm sure with some of those wild carbs you've shown in the past it'd be even greater increases.

After 3 years on the Bandit I've made enough mistakes to learn from and now it's time to make new mistakes on a new bike :bigok: Poor Bandit has had it's life, over 100.000 km's, dented frame, both wheels are not straight anymore, after visiting the 16000+ revs too many times the engine is using oil, but apart from that it's still going strong. Though 4 bikes, 2 mini-bikes and a car is too much for one garage

Or 2.89 HP per MM bore increase...

im looking to do a streetfighter interpretation. so if anyone has a seat cowl, id like to buy it or borrow it so i can lay down a frp mold. its not hard to do and completely safe for the original piece. if not im just gonna chop the tail.  :thumb:
