$550.00 shipped any where out of the US except Canada
OK why can't it ship to Canada? Or is shipping cheaper to ship to Canada? Or is there a different price to ship to Canada?
I'll have to see how much cash I have in the New Year and I will get this, if it can ship to Canada.
G
-

-
Okay another set sold that's a total of 7 kits now for those that ordered there's you will be receiving yours on time like agreed middle of the moth cheers and thanks to all jay
-
someone must wanna go fast?
Yup... we have B12's though. :stickpoke:
-
 Funny guy bring it to the track and let me walk all over it with my little 400 then! :beers:
-
Bring that bad little boy out here and we'll run from my house to someplace in another state - and you can choose the place and route.
Why do I wanna go to a track? You just see the same scenery over and over, have to do the same turns over and over and when you're done riding, you're still at the place you started.
:stickpoke:
-
Ill see ya at the rally BIG MAN and I'll will be in the sradit 400! 119hp bro! :stickpoke:(LOL still working on this project 4/25/07)
-
That's probably east coast horsepower, which like east coast deer is always smaller than west coast.
-
Ill remember to hit your kill switch when i go by then!!!!!!LMAO :stickpoke:
-
Good! I'll be sure to wire it to trigger my new NO2 bottle then. :beers:
-
Now you cant call the redi wip container NOS! :stickpoke: :duh:

Hey G - did you see this (http://forums.banditalley.net/viewtopic.php?t=3838) thread? If you wade through all the BS in it, it looks like there will be a Bandit Day at Nelsons in July. Cdyer and I will be there. :beers:

Ahhh! Great!
I have some work to do and some scheduling to get straight but it looks like I will do my very best to be there.
G
. . . . must . . . get . . . big . . bore . . . kit . .
-
Jay, :stickpoke:
Are you planning on doing this through tax season? I can see a few people jumping on this after getting returns, I may be one of them.
-
YES SIR, JUST 4 U!
-
wohooooooooo, pistons are at my house! Here's the even better news piston weight :stock 98 grams my pistons 100 grams very light for such a big bore!
-
Okay new development due to the fact that i can not get gaskets this cheap any more and that i am done messing with the whole kit ordeal!
I'm not making a dime off these kits i did this just for the people with the gixxer 400's and bandit 400 guys just cause no one could get replacement pistons ! Come february 1st the price goes up to $650 shipped anywhere i don't know how long i will keep having them made but you will always be able to get replacement parts! Rings ,clips, pins! So get them while the price is still the same or ya might be out of luck and have to deal with the high price of TTS and There heavy pistons!
thanks
jay
-
So, it's Saturday night, got that big bore engine running yet? :monkeymoon:
-
believe it or not in the beginning i sold these so cheap i didn't even end up with a set for my self hopefully soon i will have a set of my own :beers:
-
 Huh?! I thought the whole reason behind this was to get a group together so you -and them- could save some iron men.
-
That would have seemed to be the plan , but sometimes sacrifices have to be made for your fellow brethren! :beers: to all who have bought a kit! And happy motoring!

Hi everybody, I received my pistons a few days ago and the kit looks great. Unfortunately I won't be able to mount them for a while. Anyway I'll let you know how these pistons work as soon as as I get them revving.
-
Come on guys its tax season! :beers:
-
This is the cheapest place to get bore work done and valve jobs and very well qualified shop.
www.aperaceparts.com
-
FYI - that area code is in Burbank, very good news for the west-coasters.
-
how much gains will we see? how difficult is the install?
-
very easy to install , if you have ever replaced a piston on anything. Or if you have some common sense and some mechanical skills. ( motor out of bike, cam chain tension-er out , cam caps off , cams out , head bolts out , head off , cylinder off , replace pistons , ect...) should see like 70+HP total, so if your bike makes 50-55 plan around 70 if it makes 60-65 now plan around 70-80.

grrrr, i wish i knew about this sooner. lol 100 bucks! :duh:
-
This is an OOT question hope you don't mind J.
Does theoritically heavier pistons creates more engine vibration?
-
Not if they all weigh the same or very close on a in-line 4 this is not as critical as a single or a twin. but yes to some extent. but the good thing is that these are 3mm bigger and weigh 8 grams heavier than your stock 56mm pistons or if you get some forged aluminum pistons from other manufacturers your looking at 60 grams heavier big difference :beers:
-
if you have a special situation email me and we will talk . cheers
Jay
-
could any motorcycle repair shop install the kit for me? what do you guys think it would roughly cost?
i'm trying to figure out if i can afford the kit+install.
-
yes any shop can install, you would have to call the local shop and ask what they charge to do a top end and have your cylinder bored !. I think APE is the cheapest for boring.
-
3 more kits sold!
-
Anyone have one installed and running yet?
I'm anxious to here of the improved result!
-
no not yet, but I'm working on mine as we speak! should be in for the bandit track day!
-
Installed the big pistons. has way more power than stock and a lot more mid range to get me out of the corners I am truly pleased with the progress now if it would have came stock like this the b4's and the gixxers would have sold a lot more! Yahoo!
-
Mates here is the clearance specs for the piston kits, valve to piston clearance intake .030", valve to piston clearance exhaust .055", piston to head clearance .030". What this means is that you don't need to mill a thing! Sorry these measurements came at such a late date. hope they help someone obtain greater HP! (All measurement are in inches and if you use metric please adjust accordingly)
cheers

Good info, let us know when you get yours dialed in and on a dyno, that should sell a lot of kits!

Hi, just a quick question. Im getting a little bored of my B4 '96 vv, its quick if i red line every gear and I can keep up with much larger capacity bike through corners etc.
Will I notice an improvement in power, ie on a drag start from the lights, will it be noticly quicker?
I need to do a valve clearance check soon, this is why im considering it.
Do I need to do any reboring of cylinder or valves? or is it just fact of replacing the pistions? DO i need to replace the studding?
BTW, depending on the rider, i can beat a SV-650 with my stock b4?
People say you get a 5 Bhp increase by rejettng after fitting an exhaust, would it be worth doing this too, or instead.
cheers

Will I notice an improvement in power, ie on a drag start from the lights, will it be notably quicker?Yes bigger displacement stock is 56 it would be 59mm bore after the kit and bore job
I need to do a valve clearance check soon, this is why I'm considering it.
Do I need to do any re-boring of cylinder or valves?Re-bore yes to 59mm or is it just fact of replacing the pistons? pistons are 3mm bigger than stock DO i need to replace the studding? No

i would like to see some dyno results
also whats your price for the 60,5mm piston set?? to make it 465cc
and do you also sell seperate head-gaskets for the bog-bore kit?
-
no dyno charts yet haven't had the time to take my bike to the dyno or the money i got a lot of projects going on right now. gaskets come with the kits (head and base gasket) for the 442 no need to modify the gaskets but for the 465 you would have to open them up a bit for the 465 its mainly for the serious racer due to the fact that it needs liners and machine work to make them fit you are looking at 1500.00 shipped. I have one kit almost done but not installed in my bike yet i'm just running the 442. So mostly the 465 kit is out of the question but ti's possible for the right money!
-
going big time

soon to open a eBay store with all your performance needs for the b4
-
nice to see some pictures :bigok:
however it says an oem factory suzuki head gasket is included. this head gasket is made for 56mm.
can you just use the normal head gasket or do you have to open it up? :stickpoke:
-
the factory head gasket has been measured and the circumference is just big enough for the 59mm pistons and I'm talking just ti's a lucky thing cause custom head gaskets are expensive and have to be bought in bulk! So yes they fit just fine up to 59mm
Oh and FYI the head gaskets stock are .015" of an inch thick and so are the base from the factory!
-
Hi, has anyone recieved their kit and had it installed. I love my b400-v, and would love to make it a little bit quicker.
What percentage improvement can i expect?
cheers

a lot of people are working on there's the closest being Gary in Canada and JC and another in California there 4 in Italy i haven't heard from Hamish in Indonesia a couple in the UK 1 in Australia, so everyone is working on it I have mine in and am very impressed but I'm sure you want another opinion! :beers:
-
I have my second motor stripped down and the head out getting polished. The jugs are going in for 59mm bore next week. So I hope to have the thing running by sometime in early Feb 07, if my wife will let me start it up in the basement

Hey Garyola
How goes it, I am up in canada as well, in the GTA. My wife owns a B4, but the cam chain is pooched, so since I am possibly looking at doing major work, I am considering the big bore. I would love to chat with you about your experience doing it. If you want to contact me at k97zx7r88na@hotmail.com, I would love to here from you.
Cheers

this is for reference only , this is a old post with a 1mm over bore kit and my kit is 3mm over bore so make your own guesstimating on what hp you would get with 2 more mm's than this guy had

engine mods
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
The engine was built by Joel Tanger at Blais Cycle Inc. in Miami FL. It's 1mm over bore, 5 angle valve job, stock carbs with Dynojet kit, 108 I believe, Yosh exhaust, racing fuel. Dyno sheet shows about 67hps. "
1MM pistons are discontinued from Suzuki or i might have never made a 3mm kit
-
Is the ebay price the bandit alley price? :)
Thanks
-
They are normally $650.00 with no came chain tension-er included.
Bandit alley price is now always $625.00 with no cam chain tension-er.
But i am running a special on my eBay store $625.00 with a free cam chain tensioner only on the two kits in the store.
:beers:
-
Ahhhhh, I see
Nice.
You have more kits than the two in the store or is that it? Will the crank hold up fine etc? What kinda life do you expect outta this big bore kit? I am trying to set up a track bandit 400
Its rough right now. Have any suggestions? I want to do it cheap but pretty good. Rear shock, front suspension, rearsets maybe, some motor work in the near future if not now...
I do have another engine I could big bore tho while still riding this one.
Thanks
-
you should get 3 full seasons out of it. all depends on how you maintain your bike i could get 3 full season out of it that's tons of race miles
Start another thread and ill tell you my visions of a b4 racer that fits into vintage racing.
i don't really have 2 kits lol those are just models it states in the add that it takes about a month to get your pistons because they are not mass manufactured they are made to order cost me the same 1-7 kits I don't get a break till after 8
-
:stop: One more day left till the deal is off and the price goes back up.

This is from a mate i sent a kit to in another country.
"My apologies for no reply!
Finally my bike is running! It took my mechanic a while to do as he is the only decent mechanic on the island! The pistons have made a bit of a difference in acceleration and top speed. I am still running it in at the moment before going back for a final tune up. It is running quite rich on gas now, but it is very quick!
Cost me a fortune in the end but worth it…as I finally can pull away from the Police on the island, they don’t even bother to come after me! I am going to get a re-spray on the body soon, when I get a few more kms on the clock.
Only thing I have forgotten is a speedo cable. The rev counter works but not the actual speed. I am going to check out the website on internet to check and I also have some connections in Singapore now, so will let you know if I need it or not.
Thanks for all your help, please let me know if you need a reference in regards to the parts for any prospective buyers for you in the future.
Will send a photo after the re-spray.
Regards
Hamish
bike running really well wih the new pistons, i have already dragged
off a few 400 bandits and 400 ducatis! left them in the dust!will send
photos when complete!

Hi Folks
1st day at the track has ended for the 442.
I spent the morning on cruise breaking in the new motor. It immediately felt faster and had a ton more torque.
After the 3rd 15 minute session, I was starting to get the bike up to 10-11 thou. It started to bog down at that point. I had put in an air filter that was crap so I pulled it and just ran screen in the airbox. Then it really came alive. So I headed over to the suspension experts and they dialed the little bandit in real nice.
So I jumped up into the fast group to see how the B4 would do. Well let me tell you. The little bugger is fast. It has noticeably more speed and torque throughout the midrange and once you hit 10 grand it starts to growl and pulls hard compared to what it was like before. It's still not a 600rr but I was only passed by a few guys on big bikes all afternoon. I even passed a few 600's on turn one, on the outside(but I love that corner and I have it nailed). I didn't feel slow out there at all. Now the track configuration we ran today( Nelson at Shannonville) gives the advantage to smaller bikes. Seven turns and short straights so I could carry lots of speed.
After today's run at the track, I don't regret for a second putting in Jay's 442 big bore. It makes the B4 bigger and beefier. I think with some carb work and getting rid of the air box it will even be quicker.
I will be racing it in two weeks and I'll let you know how it does in it's class. I can tell you I won't be blaming the bike for a poor performance.

:congrats: to all that purchased you will have access to replacement parts. :thanks: I am currently not looking for a new supplier I am very busy with my new store none motorcycle related to all that have supported me you know how to get a hold of me, I'm always available for questions or brain picking. To the people that want them down the road here is your options TTS at $1200.00 shipped or more to the US from the UK (with theirs being 12 grams heavier each) or the new no hassle price in the US of $900.00 and i may still bother having a set made for you at 2 grams each heavier than stock.
cheers all and thanks for your business.
-
:thanks: to you for all your help over the last couple of years.
My bike would have been crap if not for all of your help. I hope to get the little B4 on a podium this year . . . . . . . No really.
I'll keep you posted as to how the whole thing is coming together.
Good luck and all the best for the new store. Keep us posted.

Can you tell me more about the big bore kit? I'd like to go fast in a little 400. Over 100 hp sounds good to me!
Does it come with all new engine gasket kit?
-
They still come with head gasket, base gasket, starter cover gasket, clutch cover gasket, cam chain tensioner gasket.
Then you also get a billet racing cam chain tensioner.
And act now and you get 4 count them 4 cast aluminum 3 mm bigger pistons with rings, pins and clips........
All for the amazing thanks to bush inflated price of $1000.00 and as a added bonus to the first millionth customers you get free shipping :stickpoke: that's right free shipping world wide.... LOL
:beers:
-
Is this kit easy to install for someone with minimal engine know how? LOL that is an inflated price. Can you provide images or a link to read more about the kit? How long to ship? I should have the bandit running soon so this would be a project for the cold winter months.
Can you get new after-market engine side covers?
Thanks, I appreciate the help!
-
bore and hone... if that easy? Gary dropped 4 sec's off his time as soon as he installed it and i don't by far think he is done dropping :stickpoke: his times. I will have to dig up a pick or two. I'm at work right now ad that stuff is not on this computer... I and you can get new oem side cover don't know of anyone making after market there are some Kevlar cover that cost a good penny you may find them in a search on here. No link really but this, I'm not a dealer just a personal supplier. this was my fix for my ageing race bike and i offer it to other as long as its not a hassle to me.. This is more of a street kit that if you race you can definitely tune more power out of. They take me about a month to have done.
cheers

Surely the 100hp from a 400 is a joke ? What gains can you expect from the 442 conversion ? I remember reading British mag articles where they always tried to increse hp on 400's by means of cams, pistons etc. but hey always seem to get stuck at around 70 hp. Just seems that the 400's were always built with the 60 hp limit in mind and not much go fast goodies exists for them. I mean is the stock Mikuni carbs really the best you can get for them ? Is there no FCR type of flatside carbs avaliable ? That should make a nice improvement as well.
-
yes you can get flatslides and around 70-80hp depending on your state of tune...
-
So probably around 70hp for the non-flat slides with the GSXR cams?
I wish I would have bought this setup before the inflation made prices go through the roof...oh well, live and learn.
-
Which models came with the flatsides (GSXR 400 SP ?). Would really like to get hold of a set, a flatside made a huge difference on my dualsport bike.
Ok just read this thread
http://forums.banditalley.net/index.php?topic=9439.0
I basicly need Mikuni FCR's either 32 mm or 33 mm ? I have a 2nd gen 400VV Bandit.
-
Correct

-
Couple more days and im blowing the lid off the 442cc and 465cc kits :yikes: id prefure anyone that knows a machinest to be able to get this little bike to keep up with the jones's :thanks: to all that purchased a kit
-
FZR 600 pistons, pins, clips, rings for 442cc on the bandit and gsxr 400's
fzr 600 sleeves shortened and weisco fzr 650 somethings kit make a 465 cc bandit 400 or whatever combo you want once you install the sleeves but 442 is as big as you can go with out having to do the sleeve ordeal. enjoy and thanks everyone. :beers:
-
I forgot you have to mill the valve pockets like 20 thousandths as well
-
thanks for this info, i can lay my hands on some FZR pistons for around £30.
alos i take it when you say valve pockets you mean the recess in the top of the pistons that are on an anlge.
what does this do to the compression ratio if anything?
-
The pockets are machined to stop the valves hitting the piston and is not really relevant to the compression ratio.
The fact you have over bored increases compression.
You should still measure the motor after machining tho, if one pocket is on the high side and its valve slightly longer you could run into problems.
Remember to open the head gasket out to fit the new bore!
-
thats what i thought, was gonna measure things up before final assembly anyway. i have a second set of 400 pistons that i can compare things like pin to crown so i can get an idea of what and where i need to make anychnges
-
What about the head and base gaskets, will the factory ones still work with the 59mm pistons? If not where can I find a suitable gasket? My poor Bandit is getting tired and I really would like to do this 442 setup when I rebuild it. Thanks
-
Base gasket is stock but head gasket has to openned out by hand to fit the new bore using a dremil etc.
