Title: Brake Lines
Post by: Forde on April 24, 2008, 11:02:37 AM
Hey,

Looking at buying a brake line kit for my bike.  The seller doesnt know if it is for a twin disc or a single disc.

If someone could tell me how many seperate brake line sections the twin disc model has it would let me know which bike this is for.

My single disc bike has 1 rear (obv) and 2 front brake lines (the front one goes down from the res to the splitter thing and then another section down to the actual caliper instead of all being one section).

Im assuming that the twin disc bikes have obv 1 rear line and 3 front ones?  (one from reservoir to splitter then one from each side of the splitter to each caliper, totalling three)

If im right then that means that a "full" kit with 3 lines is right for me.

Thanks guys

  :bandit: :thanks: :beers:

Depends cause it could be for a twin disc and use two full length fromnt lines. Ask him if it has a double banjo bolt in it.

i wouldve thought it would have followed the original routing and if the original had three and used the splitter then this would do the same.

does the original one have three then?

cheers for the advice and quick reply btw id never have thought of that lol, emailing him now. also gona ask him the lengths of the lines in the kit.  if it was a kit with two full length lines they would have to be quite long i reckon they dont look that long.  Just lookin at the pic im near convinced it is right but ready to be proved wrong lmao

if you can see a shorty in there then it hooks up like you said but usually they have two long for the front then you buy a rear kit with one line

Be careful with those Hel lines for the B4. Many times the line from the brake pump to the splitter is too short :stickpoke:

Yeah i emailed him he says it contains a double banjo bolt and 3 front lines and one rear line.  That makes no sense.  If it has 3 front lines it wont need the double banjo bolt.

Just gonna go for the goodridge kit lol.

Have you guys had any luck using lines from a gs 500 or something else?  I know someone here said a gs 500 one might work.

Well i personally would just get a set from a HEL dealer as hel lines come as standard with stainless fittings and plastic covering unlike goodridge. http://www.intobikes.co.uk/products?detail=product&id=000024&sg=OR&st=pt&pt=0007&search=

The double bolt is for the splitter...

Yeah to be honest i think that kit is for a single disc bike too. Get him to measure the lengths of the lines.

why would the splitter need a double bolt?  there is only one caliper!!  On the single disc bikes the line goes from the m/c to the metal splitter thing, then continues from the other side of the splitter to the caliper.  So what is the third piece of brake line and the double bolt for??

Actually looking at the picture there only seems to be three lines altogether in the kit??  When i emailed him he responded saying the kit contained 3 front and 1 rear, but it looks from the pic like it contains 3 altogether including a short one to go to the splitter?

Maybe i should email him again but he seemed to have a pissed off attitude so he mite be ragin if i do.

I dont think he'll measure them he wont open them.
