i can't break past 46 mpg
i've been riding tucked in low over 60 mph - no fairing
its got fresh clean oil and my spark plugs are still good
its got a clean stock foam air filter with the snorkel removed
its a USA non-california model (no canister)
i even put a tiny hi-flow fuel filter after the petcock
Would drilling some holes in the airbox cover and then
switching to a K&N flat airbox filter help the MPG?
Or is the stock setup the best its gonna get?
Pods are more for looks than performance on this bike right?
Is the SV rear wheel lighter than the stock b4 wheel?
Are there any other lighter wheels available for the b4?

46 sounds good to me. I flog mine pretty hard but I've never done better than 42, I don't think.
Yes, the more modern Suz wheels like the SV are lighter. I'm not sure how much of a spacer adj is necessary, tho. That's something I mean to look into b'f my next tire change.

yeah my tires will need changing in the future so with cheaper junked wheels out there it'd just feel better to install the lighter wheel and be able to have more tire "in stock locally" options. Every local store I went to had no tires in stock for my bike - and i live in a city with lots of shops.

That sounds about right. I normally get mid to low 40s all the time. On one rare occasion I got 50mpg. This was on a long ride and conditions must have been almost perfect, because my buddy riding my NT650 Hawk go 60mpg on the same fill-up.
Dave.

I got 50 mpg once but there again is was a tank emptying trip. I did however ride hard (trying to keep up with a GSXR600 and ZX6 and I wasn't too successful) I average around 40 mpg for the commuting I do.
