i don't see where this fits, looks like some part on the alternator or the clutch

It goes on you rear wheel, the sprocket mounts to it. Next time you have your wheel off check it out.

The rear sprocket bolts to the holes you see in the pic.  The other side goes into the wheel with those rubber things.

Most street bikes have cush drives, most dirt bikes do not.
