Carb Quastion
« on: December 30, 2006, 11:14:02 AM »
Just my Bandit back on the road yesterday.
While cleaning the carbs i noteced that main jets are different in them, the first one and te third one have 102.5 , the second one and the fourth one have 105. All the pilot jets are the same size. Was just wondering whats the story???
By the way the carbs are off VV bandit.
Also all the jets and neadles have a brand stamp one them, i looks like a small square anside the bottom left corner of the biger square. Are they stock or after market?
And the last one, moxture screws, they are just for getting good idle, isnt it? After carb rebuild when i blip the throtle RPM's go way below the idle and than come back up to normal... would that be up to mexture screws? Before they were 1.5 out, i have them out 2 turns now, so i was thinking may be i should turn them back in as they were???
Cheers.

Sounds odd to have different main jets on 2 and 4.

Jets and needles are mikuni parts not aftermarket.

Idle drops low and then goes up means your too rich. Reset to 1.5 and retest.

Cheers interfuse. Will change that tomorow.
Bout the jets, i thought it was weird too. Have 2nd set of carbs, so going to check if i have a mach for any of the jets that i have on the bike alredy.
Have to say though, since carb rebuild it rides like a dream at the moment, and its very very fast...to me any way!!!
Thanks

Thanks Jay. But i still want to know why are the jets different? What good does that do? Would i not be better off with the all the jets same size?
Cheers

for tunning purposes you want all the same usually once you get the right set up the inside cylinders run hotter because of lack of air to them so some tuners will put a richer jet in the middle so like 102 -105 masterbation, jet changes should occure like 100 -105 -110 personally i wouldn't even mess with the 105 if sorting out a jetting problem i'd jump  from the 100 to a 110 then up or down from there! :beers:
