purely out of interest and with no spannering intention whatsoever,  :cop:  what do the restrictors look like?

If you'd used the search function, you would have known already :)

The restrictors on the B4 (the early ones, at least, probably all) are four discs that sits (glued, or something) under the black cover on top of each carb. There they are restricting the vacuum controlled plastic slider thingy from going all the way up.

Looks like they could "fall out" *wink*wink* pretty easily.

how big a difference does it make if they do 'fall out'?

in theory, 34hp restricted, and 59(?) unrestricted, so it's quite the difference....

i need to source a set pretty quickly. Is anyone in england selling a set? ALso are the carbs the same in the GSXR 400 and the B4 so technically you could use the same carbs as the GSXR 400??

why'd you need em for mot's they don't check the carbs and they don't make sure the bikes restricted. They just check that it's road worthy

I need a set in my bike because I'm still on my restricted license. I was told that it was restricted but it turns out it's not.

Judging from some of the posts here, there are others that are still on restricted licenses and don't seem to mind their restrictors "fell out."
I'm not a subject of the Queen, but from what I gather from UK posts, no one is going to make you prove the bike is still restricted.

I don't think you have to worry... start worrying when you've hit something and injured people and they call the police  Otherwise, they wouldn't check it.

Coming from an ignorant Cannuck....why are they installed?? Is it because you have a "restricted" licence? Is that from too many fines...or is it a newbie licence thing? Or is it a standard modification on UK bikes?(God Save the QUEEN....)

if you're under 21, you can do a 'restricted' test, which means you can ride bikes bigger than 125cc but not more power than 33bhp. the idea is to stop young people from jumping straight on a big bike and not having the skill to control it. after riding for two years you can ride anything.

if you're over 21 you can skip this and go straight to any bike (called Direct Access or DAS).

Here it seems to be the insurance companies which do the "restricting". You can ride any bhp you like (unrestricted), but you pay through the nose to have insurance. I have some friends who pay $5100.00CDN to insure their bikes (GSXR 750) for a year.

It seems if you are rich enough you are permitted to remove yourself from the gene pool!

Thanks Tom
