Hi all,
I currently at a crossroads as to whether I should rebuild my carbs with either the factory kit, the "bakudan" or "bomb" kit they have here in Japan for tuning the Bandit or just replace them with a GSXR 250 set of carbs. My buddy and I are stripping down the 250 and putting on a pair of GSXR USD forks on the front, RGV banana swingarm on the rear with a GSXR 1100 shock and generally replacing everything on the beast. I even had an offer a couple of days ago to hard chrome the entire frame for $200 (if I could get them a bare metal frame to the factory direct that is). I am pondering the possibility of stripping down the entire bike to frame and then building it up again.
I guess I wanted to know if swapping carbs is a possibility and would it cause some headaches down the road (tuning, compression etc....)? Whats compatible with the stock '92 250 engine?
Thanks for the replies.
Regards,
W.

I don't have an answer for your carb question, but unless you are building a show bike, I would avoid chroming a steel tube frame, such as the Bandit. The chroming process (electroplating) can cause hydrogen embrittlement. One of the reasons you rarely see factory built bikes with chromed steel frames.
