Title: DYNO!!!!!!!!
Post by: billybandit on October 03, 2005, 05:20:43 PM
Right, I'm a member of a Triumph forum and none of them believe me that it's possible my 250 GJ74A can put out 40bhp, let alone earlier models putting out 45bhp. SO:

- does ANY GSF250 owner here have some dyno run statistics?

Put them here please!!!!!

Sorry Billy.  I've never seen a dyno sheet on a 250.

Costs too much and I'm worried it'll say 33.1bhp (which is probably likely!)

It's not pulling 40's, but here's a 250 dyno chart:

I think I'm gonna cry, my 33bhp restrictor kit was £150. Ah well, great minds piss in the wind and all that

I've never understood the 33bhp restriction... In Canada they just make insurance so ridiculously expensive that you can't afford to drive a bike with more HP until your older and have more road experience.

And if you're a lucky prick with a trust fund and can afford the $5,000 bucks a year for insurance on GSXR1000,  then by all means learn to ride on a GSXR1000.

Yeah, these are the rules for getting a bike license in UK:

Take CBT (compulsary basic training) from age of 16. This is a days training that, when completed, allows the rider to use a bike with L plates.
If the rider is 16 when the CBT is taken, the following restrictions apply:
- Engine no more than 50cc
- Bike capable of no more than 50kmh (31mph)
- No passengers
- No trailers
- Motorways are not to be used
If the CBT is taken from 17 years onwards, the same rules apply except for:
- Bike must be no more than 125cc
- Engine power output must not exceed 15bhp.

The CBT lasts for 2 years and if the test is not complete in this time, the CBT must be repeated.
After CBT, you can go for the theory test. Then the practical test.
The practical test must be taken on a bike between 120 and 125cc, and be capable of 60mph (but put out no more 15bhp).
After passing the practical test, applicant can use a bike of any size, as long as the power output does not exceed 33bhp. This restriction lasts for 2 years, unless the Direct Access test is taken in that time (see below)

If rider is 16, only full moped license can be obtained.

If rider is over 21, Direct Access can be taken (bike must be at least 46bhp). This allows the rider to use a bike of any power output and engine capacity straight away.

But new regulations are being planned, which means that any rider will not be allowed more than about 40bhp until they are 24!
Anyway, my 33bhp power restriction runs out on September 2nd next year, then I am gonna get the most outrageously sized bike ever and probably kill myself.

PS someone correct if I am wrong on any of the information given about UK bike licenses

I've never seen it all spelled out like that.  That's possibly the most absurd thing I've ever heard.  Truly.  What the hell do you have to do to drive a car?

Do you think the government like motorcycles? lol

That's pretty crazy. But that being said, I don't think most people under 20 are responsible enough to ride a high powered bike.

In Canada the way it works.... is you write a written test, that's all common sense traffic questions. Then they give you your learners permit (m1). It lasts for 90 days. You can drive only during the day, without passengers, and not on highways that have a posted limit of 100 km/h... and no alcohol in your blood.

Then you have to do a road tests, basically walking the bike around cones and stopping on white lines. Then you have your M2. It's only restriction is no alcohol in your blood. M2 is minium 18 months.

Then you do your M2 exit and you have no restrictions. It's also a driving test and its a bit more serious.

No restrictions on HP or CC's throughout the entire process. However, insurance is crazy expensive on bikes above 500 cc. It's the reason I don't have a gsxr 600...

In our country its not like that, haha.

We have to take the license when we get 18 years,
First there's a very easy stupid theory test,
and after that have to go for the ridin test, and if you pass thats all,

YOu can ride any bike any bhp, on the first day also you can ride a Hayabusa 1300CC.

NOw I am 20 and I am havin a Bandit 400V Bike.

Isnt it cool here.

I will post some pictures of Motor bikes from here to pictures forum OK.
