Does Ne body out there know of an engine which will fit into the bandit 400 , with minimal modification to engine And/or the frame.
Looking to put bigger engine int he B4, like the way it looks so, instead of getting new bIke just put in larger engine !!!!!
:thanks:

Bigger with minimal modifications? I think the only thing that qualifies is to make the original engine bigger - like with the big-bore 442 kit gsxr400racer offers here. (http://forums.banditalley.net/viewtopic.php?t=3796)

I have been looking into this and the only answer I have, is the nothing will fit with out modifying the frame. However I just sat on a new 06 GSXR 600 and the engine on that is smaller than last years. The bike is very narrow over all. The 05 engine is too big by 1/2" so if this 06 is smaller I might be able to fit it. I too like the design of B4 frame so I would rather modify it than to get a whole other bike. Plus I am a small guy and this bike is perfect for 5'6" and under. I will wait a few months and see what I can find. It never takes long before some moron with too much money discovers that these machines are way over powered for a beginer. They usually end up on ebay. got to love it.
Patience!

I know this is way off. but I would check a f2,f3 motor. there are sooo many of those out there you could get one CHEAP!.They have the same mounting style as the bandit. 96+ gsxr motors are too wide but can be made to fit. I know where a frame is that has a gsxr motor in it now. but it's going to cost.

FZR600 and YZF600 engines share the same cases (but are taller) than the FZR400 engine. They are plentiful, cheap and fit in a narrow frame though it would be a lot work to adapt to a B4.

Seems like a lot of trouble to go through. If the '06 GSXR600 motor doesn't fit (should be lots of wrecked bikes this summer, haha), I'd just go with gsxr400 cams and carbs and get the 442cc kit. It'd be like a totally new engine, might be cost effective too. But that's just me.

Thing is that this kit would be a vast improvement with out the cams and carbs.
As for the 06 gixxer 600 deal , that would be a train wreck. I dont thing the frame can handle that power. Let alone i think what i have done is a bit iffy thats why i had the frame braced.

I think the frame only becomes a problem if you go through curves at Gixxer 600 speeds and heavy braking. An extra triangle in the frame should make it as tough as it needs to be.

This I am concern with. I will find a way to make it work, only if the engine will fit with minimal mods. I love a good challenge.

You have enough trying to keep the b4's running. To me it is masturbation to waste all that money and time of putting that new motor in that fram never to get the full potential out of it. But to each his own .
You have a gas tank to fab up to work , a sub frame , a front end, wiring harness , pipe, gauges, fuel injection, power comander, wheels . The b4 alone is just not the right bike to be throwing 120 hp at. and also figure out how to fit a air box in there . Good luck. Sounds like major money to me. :stickpoke: Im not here to burst your bubble , but if you want a money pit i have a few!

Boy. way to kill a dream man. :stickpoke: I have most of the extra parts you mentioned. Now all I need is a little support. J/k. I fugured that I will scope it out before I spend the money. If I think its too overwhelming I will leave it alone. I love this bike. Of all the bikes I have had this has to be my favorite.

Ahhh, yes...but it'd be even better with the cams and 33 carbs :beers:
Now, if I only had the money and know-how to do that mod :duh:

I'm with Racer on this one LOL Why reinvent the wheel. If you want a GSXR 600 just go out and buy one. There is no wieght advantage to putting that motor in a bandit frame.
-
Just buy a Ducati. It'll will cost you less.

So I went to the suzuki dealer where they have the new gsxr 600. a buddy of mine works there and he called me to let me know the they had started to put these the gixxers together. I took the opportunity to go and take measurements of th engine and I discovered that the engine is designed to rest at and agle that would be almost impossible to duplicante with the frame design of the B4. So my B4 will continy to be a 400. I still love this machine.

seems i measured them too! cheers
