Title: FORK OIL servicing
Post by: raptorsc on January 09, 2006, 11:37:44 PM
Question here

My bike is 00 model, this makes is 6 years old this year my dear Watson

Distance covered is 17 000km, does anyone know how regular the fork fluid needs to be serviced to prevent wear and maintain good fork action??

I am thinking it needs a service and will likely do it anyway.

Final question what weight oil is recommended by Suzuki for the forks??

Wait till the seals have popped    What a nightmare that was

(HINT - do NOT take humpback bridges at 100mph with a friend on the back)

I'm at work so I don't know the proper answer to your question. I'll get back to you later on this one

I'd do it yearly, its a cheap job. Suzuki recommend 10wt, but putting in 15wt can give you a firmer front end.
495 mls per fork on mine

Okey Dokey then  :thanks:

Just found a shop manual and it says service the forks every 5000km or 15 months! Thats about equal to each 300miles or so hey?

At 6 years I better get to it ASAP

3,000 miles, yeah. I wouldn't worry too much about it, oil is oil. As long as your seals are in tact, you'll be ok. I spray the outside of the fork legs with WD40 or similar stuff in winter, keep them nice and non rusted
