Title: full 4:2:1 exhaust for B400 from Jardine just out
Post by: bonobandit4 on March 10, 2006, 05:40:47 PM
In my quest to replace my rusting Yoshi exhaust, I've just come across this full system from Jardine that was just added to the catalog March 2.

http://jardine.rideshop.com/catalog/default.php?cPath=3_26_56_74

no pictures yet, but I've already written to them for one...

Funny thing is it's listed for '91-'95...

Isn't Jardine a Euro company?  That's probably the range for the euro 1st gen.  They make nice looking pipes.  Keep us posted!   :beers:

Ummm... NO!
Jardine is a California company. They got started building headers for hot rods back in 1958 and bike systems in 1972.
(That info gleaned from following "THE COMPANY" icon on the link above.)  :stickpoke:
(I knew they were from CA, but didn't know how long they'd been around.)

I didn't bother to click around their site.  I must have followed a link to their UK site at some point (or have them confused w/ someone else) cuz ... oh nevermind!  Did I mention....   :monkeymoon:

I guess my age is showing... I remember Jardine from my teen days when they were a popular choice for cars since they were a lot cheaper than Hooker, which had the top brand recogition in those days... I just didn't know they were only a year younger than me! I do remember when they came out with their first 4-1 header for the original CB750's though.

I know there's a timeline somewhere here of when they were first imported to the US, and I'm sure that has something to do with the decision, but I bet it also has something to do w/ cost of production versus which years are interchangeable.  I may have even called them or emailed them a year or so ago asking about custom pipes for the B4.  Maybe they've had inquiries from other loyal owners?  Heck, maybe some of the Jardine folks hang out on our boards or own one themself!  Any smart professional knows you have to keep up with your industry in many ways.  How long after 95 were B4's sold in the US?  I knew that they were in Cali, but I had no idea how long they've been around.  But then, I'm not a West coaster, and was still in the womb until 73.

If I can't repair my slightly rusted pipes (TAKING SUGGESTIONS BTW) then I'll be looking at these seriously.  If they send me any pics, I will be sure to post.

What about sanding it and painting over it?

Anyway, i feel somewhat frustrated because the choice in aftermarktet exhausts is limited, at the least. I've tried to find any kind of list of brands that sell for our 400's but couldn't find any..

Also, what's the deal about putting a can from a bigger bike on, for example: a Yosh for an RF600?

It's been said elsewhere in these forums, but so long as the inlet is 2", you can put Any can on you like (with the stock headers).  Might be best to find a can that has a band clamp for mounting options....

I like the looks of the stock pipe.  I'm keeping it.  :D  One of the best looking stock cans I've seen.

Be sure to check with Jardine, I know they used to have a 4-2-1 header for the Bandit 400 for sale but they stopped production 2 years back (I wanted to buy one).  Be sure it is not a glitch in their system.  Good luck!

I agree but it's still heavy, restrictive and very quiet, tho...

I was wondering the same thing.  I'll be interested to hear what they have to say.  I questioned them about a B4 pipe they were showing on their site a year or two ago and never had my email returned.  I didn't pusue it, tho.

No problem at all, if the connection is 51 mm. I have a Yoshimura RS-3 from a GSX 750 F. Although the sound was not very good at first, after opening it up, removing a lot of tubing and putting it back together it sounds superb

Well, turns out you were right.  I haven't received a response from Jardine, but one of the sites I spoke to that were advertising this system responded with this...

The only place your going to find a complete system is on eBay, they pop up from time to time you just have to be patient. I bought 2 within a couple of months
