FZR400 v. GSF400
« on: June 12, 2006, 12:38:47 PM »
Might be able to trade my 91 GSF400 for a FZR 400. It's a few years older but has way less miles and seems to be in good shape overall.

I was planning on looking into a 600cc bike, but the FZR400 intrigues me. Can you guys offer any ideas on how it performs compared to our bandits? power, handling, ergonomics etc.

Unbiased opinions will be greatly appreciated

JMURiz should be able to give you a good comparo when he sees this.  I'm pretty sure he has both in his stable.  Jay's pretty familiar with them too.

The bandit has got a lot more motor the the fzr400, I have race a few over the years and have beaten them badly. the best 1/4 mile times on the fzr are 15 to 15.5 @ 75 TO 78MPH.  My Bandit does the 1/4 mile in 13.4's @ 96 MPH.
I wouldn't buy it it's definately a step backwards.

I'd have to agree with you there too, not sure if my B4 is just tuned better than the FZR, but man the B4 sure has more power.  Hopefully once I get some time to tweek them both I can get them near the same amount of power, but doubt it.
Having said that, the FZR carries it's weight down lower and feels much more nimble.
You won't get more power, but you'll get more handling.

There is a guy who races in my series that has a FZR400. This bike is totally hooked up. It is very fast and he wins a lot of races. The tech guys actually had a tear down of his bike because they suspected foul play. It was just a well built machine.
