Hi everyone. I have a GSF 400 Bandit 1994 and only a few days ago i notesed that there are different ones out there. Whats the difference between 400P and 400N? Is there any other ones? How do i find out witch one is mine? Just was thinking bout ordering some parts from BikeBandit.com and notesed different parts bor differen Bandits. Wouldnt like to get the parts that dont fit :?:
Do the parts from 1993 bandit match 1994?
Thanks a mill.

Hmm, from looking at the microfich there are 3 main versions: M,N & P
I'm pretty sure i have an M, i think these are the standards. N versions have 2 discs in front and prolly some other small differences.
P is a mystery to me... perhaps the '96-97 models?
-
I've been wrong before, but I believe the letters indicate the year.
Example
1991 = M
1992 = N
1993 = P
-
So if my Bandit is 1994 and it has one front break disk its more likely to be a P????!
Thanks
-
my vp has twin front breaks......
-
single front disc usually means you`ve got a uk bike
-
So , there no letter specification for my bike then. And i have some writing in italian and the guy a bought it from told me it was an import from italy. Was there a special Italian edition ever? Dont think so.
So what parts should i be ordering for my Bandit then?
-
I beleive mine's a 'k' - its an '89 jap bike. Twin discs, stainless system etc.
-
single front disc usually means you`ve got a uk bike
both my US '91 and '93 had single disc front. :?:
Is there a definitive source of model numbers and options?
Would be great to put in an FAQ around here (maybe one already, but I haven't found it).

i remember reading in the Manual other codes, which then determined the country the bike's coming from,
E-02 : England
E-03 : USA, except California
E-04 : France
E-21 : Belgium
E-22 : West Germany
E-24 : Australia
E-25 : Netherlands
E-28 : Canada
E-33 : California
E-34 : Italy
these codes are found on the frame, on my bike it's on a white sticker near the front... i think

Cheers mate. Will have a look tomorow where mine is from!!!
Nice one.
-
huh... I checked on my bike and it's E-13, not on the list i gave earlier. It's coming from a French speaking country, that much is certain... Perhaps from Luxemburg?
-
E13 is a safety check for components used in transportation. My V.I.N. plate is French too and it's a West-German bike.

Valve clearence differs in P model.
-
Really and whats the valve clearance?
-
According to original suzuki manual
N model (92) :
IN 0.10-0.15mm(0.004-0.006in)
EX 0.15-0.20mm(0.006-0.008)
P model (93) :
IN 0.13-0.18mm(0.005-0.007in)
EX 0.20-0.25mm(0.008.0.010in)
And now that i reviewed the numbers i remembered that last time i adjusted the valves althought i have the P( the only reason i know is a P was a sticker under the seat when i bought it, now the sticker is gone! i think it had a label P) i adjusted with the N numbers :duh: :congrats:
Well IN is almost the same but EX differs a lot.
I hope this will not give me any trouble , engine runs fine and it rocks!
I am willing to adjust again soon.
-
cool thanks wonder what the p model cams look like that they need that much more clearance.
-
i dont have any specs on this , but you can take a look here!
http://goozlo.com/images/suzuki_GSF400P.zip
P model realy kicks at 6.000 rpm once , and the again at 8.000rpm
-
is there any other way to find out wich one is my bike as im thinking about adjusting the valves and dont really fancy doing the wrong clearance.
Cheers
-
look at this site , i dont know any Japanise , but i think that from the range of the VIN you can identify the year
http://www.bands.ne.jp/faq/faq-yr-400.html this the most clear about the year.
