Anyone know if this year/model shock will fit?

Unfortunatly my bike is in Orlando and I'm in Daytona Beach, so I can't go look at it and see. I'm hoping it raises the tail a bit, if it actually fits...

It's amazing what you can find at garage sales!  :beers:

I think the 96-99 shocks are a little longer than the 00-03.  The 04-05 are longer also..  The best way to tell is by the Ohlins web site.  It gives the length for each model.

All of them are longer than the stock B4 shock.

Ok, understandable...

How long is the stock one? How far am I looking at raising it? Will it be too radical?

I don't know exactly, but it seems like I read on the forum that the stock B4 shock is 312.5, I tried to find the post, but couldn't.  I am at VIR today for a track day, so I don't have access to measure the old one with any accuracy.  According to Ohlins, the GSX-R '96-99 is 345mm, '00-03 is 325mm and the '04-05 is 332.5mm.

BTW, are you going to use your GSX-R front end?  If not, I may like to buy it.

I just checked and there are a couple of GSX-R 1100 remote resevoir shocks posted, but I am not sure about the spring rates on those or the length.  A lot of people on this board advises the '92ish 750 shock, but I don't know about the 1100 for length and spring rate.  Maybe someone with more info can add.  It will definately be easier than the route I took.

If you want a newer shock there are a ton of the '00-03 shocks posted.  You should be able to get a nice one for less than $40, but per my post, it is a bit of a pain to install.  I also think the spring rate is a bit soft for the B4 geometry.  I don't know if the 1000 uses a higher spring rate or not.  Again, maybe someone can enlighten me.
