I got sick of the connecter
so I ripped off the melted part
and soldered a direct connection to the bulb
works perfect, just need to solder
every new bulb I get for the bike

I think im slowly learning how to check for certain things now on the bike with a little help from my colleagues and also you guys. Nothing too technical, but at least i know how to get to my lights and check the fuses etc. I have put a bid in for the b6 wiring harness so if i win it ill take it to my friend and ask him to show me how to connect the part i need. Touch wood this will solve the problem and the beast will live through another MOT!!!! Is it just as easy to get to the bulbs in the display clocks because they are very dull. Also are they just standard bulbs i could pick up from my local garage??

maybe you need a new battery
or it just needs some trickle charging

Well i wired the buld up to the battery and it worked so do you think it still could be the battery? What is trickle charging?

if all the lights are dim and weird electrical things are happening
maybe you should check the battery voltage
it may need to be replaced if it is old, or tired.

I use a trickle charger for motorcycles. It plugs into your AC outlet
and slowly recharges the battery overnight without damaging anything;
some even have an auto setting. You only need it if you don't ride the bike very often; like me-just weekend rides.

its just the front light and the display. The brake lights and indicators are fine. The display lights have been dime since i got the bike back in december. As i said though i did connect the bulb straight to the battery and it worked a treat. I won the wiring harness on ebay so hopefully i will have that by friday and my neighbour will replace the part for me thats melted and with a bit of look it just might work. (not holding my breath though)!
