The bulb is just a standard automotive H4.  Easiest way to diagnose it is to buy a new one for $10 and try it.

It could just be a blown bulb, but I'd rather error on the side of caution and test the charging curcuit. A blown bulb can be an indicator of a bad regulator (search bad regulator in the 400 forum you'll find lots of posts on this).

When you're replacing the bulb remember don't touch the glass with your fingers. Or you'll be replacing it again in the near future.

If you do screw up and touch the glass, all is not hopeless. You can restore the bulb's health by cleaning it with isopropyl alcohol, as long as you clean it BEFORE you ever turn it on.
