would a larger rear sprockect on my bandit 400 decrease Mpg ie more acceration and less top end.
its because you guys claim 200km before reseve and i allways get 135km ish before reserve that works out at 35 miles to the uk gallon and at 200km to a tank thats 50 miles to a gallon cheers

A larger rear sprocket WILL increase revs at all cruising speeds in top gear, so it can decrease fuel mileage.

What tends to make a larger change is how much you are actually accelerating. Large throttle openings and constant acceleration use a lot more fuel than small throttle openings and steady throttle.

My 600 can get as little as 300 km/tank and has gone close to 500 km/tank depending on how  I ride it.

fuel settings also have a very large impact on the milage.
my bike normally does about 180km before i need reserve

is your mixture good? nice brown spark plugs?

General condition of the bike can impact economy too... good plugs, a clean air filter, make sure the brakes aren't dragging, properly inflated tires...  stuff like that.  Like was said above, state of tune and your right wrist have the biggest impact.  I don't remember the numbers specifically but I know I had a noticeable increase in consumption when I went from a fairly stock bike (just a stage 1 kit and a slipon) to a full pipe, modded airbox and much bigger mains.  Of course... it really ripped with all the mods, too!   :bigok:

It also depends on where you're driving. On the highway I get great gas mileage (20 km per L). In the city no so great (Anywhere from 11-17 km per L). I usually don't let my bike hit reserve but I fill up somewhere between 100-120km. That's with a pipe, jet kit, k&n air file and driving the crap out of it.

would you say go down to 95 mains in the middle and 92.5 on the out side the plugs are still black as night and its running 97.5 mains but im gonna wait a mo cos im putting a viper can on her im gonna put a std size spocket cos at 14000 rpm is dead on 110mph in top gear and id like a litttle more than tht lol and a sligtly better fuel eccommy for lower cruiseing speeds cos 9000 is 70 mph in top in no the can will decrease fuel ecconomy a bit but it'll be well worth it for sound and perfomance i hope lol

14000 RPM in 6th gear should be about 130 mph :stickpoke: Roughly it's about 9.25 mph per 1000 RPM.

am i right in thinking that the standard size 14 on the front and 46/47 on the rear
