Very excited to be here!! I am test riding a '91 B400 tomorrow at lunch! Pretty certain I will be buying it. Seems to run fine from I can tell so far only needs fork seals and a new front tire! And some GSXR suspension... :motorsmile:
One other thing the guy mentioned is that the tranny seems to have a little issue. When the bike is put into second gear and really hammered on the throttle it feels like it is about to come out of gear then clunks back into place without ever coming out of gear. Anyone heard of this issue??

Never thought of that one. He says it only happens in second gear, wouldn't a missing tooth/teeth do that in any gear?? I will check that though. Thanks!

Some bandits have had that problem, if caught early you can normally getaway with just changing the shift fork. If you keep driving it then changing the gears is involved. Either way your going to have to split the cases.

Yeah, that's what the service manager at the shop I called said as well. This bike would likely need the gears as well, I could barely give it any throttle and it would slip! Plus it needs fork seals, new front tire, likely a carb syncing (wouldn't pull full revs in 3rd on a flat) and likely a valve adjustment. He wants $2000 (CDN) and just to fix the gear box is likely a $600 - $700 bill. :duh: :sad:
So I think I will be Banditless for now... unless someone on here has a nice one for me! I haven't looked in the for sale section yet.

Mine did something similiar, she'd jump from second to neutral on hard accelleration. I really expected it to be the shift forks or the gear itself. On a whim I did the service manual's clutch adjustment procedure... and the problem seems to have stopped.
Anyone else try this? Or is my bike just possessed?

Well no Bandit 400 for me (yet!) but I did get a 400. Found a really nice '87 FZR400 RSP. Waiting for the oil filter to get the winter oil out and a riding I will go. I will still keep an eye out for a good Bandit 400, as the FZR will be the wifes bike.
