Title: Help with Teknic deluxe saddle bags
Post by: ant_129 on August 17, 2005, 07:38:38 PM
I got these bags http://www.teknicgear.com/catalog.php?styleid=1&pid=112 for the bandit 400 and now I am having problems with the installation.  I tried strapping the bottom straps to the passenger rear peg mounts and to the frame at the back of the bike but the bags didn't fit right.  They seemed to want to slid to far foward.  If I loosen the front then I don't think the bags will mount tight enough.

Anyone install these bags before?  Any suggestions will be appreciated.

Thanks

Just guessing, but most of the soft bags I've mounted on my bikes, I've run the rear strap around the rear fender....or tag mount.
Not sure what you have to tie on to back there on your 400....

trymounting them under your rear set then put the seat down on top and then hook to the peg mounts

Thanks gsxr400.  I tried that and it seems to be pretty stable.

You are a picture person aren't you.  Sorry I don't have a digital cam.

Well yeah, I'm thinking of getting a set of small saddles for my 400.

I like them.  I got them for like $50 on ebay but I don't think that they are water proof.

According to the link they are Nylon with a PU Coating. I suspect that means Polyurethanes, which is a very common waterproof coating for light weight nylons.

I doubt you can submerse it, but it'll probally be fine in the rain. If you are worried, put everything in a plastic baggie first.

I just picked up TourMaster sport saddlebags to go with my TourMaster sport tailbag.

The saddlebags have a "grippy" strap that really keeps 'em in place (the tailbag has an entire underside surface area like that). Did you get that with your bags? This way they don't have to be permanently mounted, they can just pop right off and you carry 'em away.

Nope.  No grippy strap on the bottom.  Sounds like a good idea though.

My bike will be used mostly for commuting this next year for college so I will keep them on most of the time.
