Title: High Idle, dies out of choke
Post by: tffy on June 25, 2006, 07:28:10 PM
Hi! Got my new '91 B400 running... But, thar be a few problems.

It only wants to start when choke is on (pulled towards me) and if the idle adjustment screw is screwed out all the way. The idle is quite high - about 3-3.5 thousand RPM. As soon as I push the choke out (away from myself), the RMPs drop and the bike dies.

What do you think is the next step in trouble-shooting this?

Thanks!

Hi Gene,
If you haven't already done this, I would suggest giving your carbs a good cleaning. It sounds to me like your pilot jets might be clogged.
While you're in there, check/replace all the o rings so you won't have to go in again. Do a search on the board for details on what to check, and there is also a guy on ebay selling o ring kits.
regards,
Steve

just try your plugs first and then set idle properly if it doesnt run proper after plugs clean the carbs and service the orings!
