Well, I finnaly got my bike outside for the first time this year. Fired right up. Idled well for a bit. Now it seem to want to idle at around 3000. I've adjusted the crap out of the idle adjustment screw. To the point of actually removing it and it didn't help. Anybody got any ideas?

I'm thinking maybe my float height is too high? Or maybe my butterfly valves need to be adjusted.

check your cables to make sure they are returning properly.

Cable checked. They are returning. Idle screw even isn't touching. Carb butterflys are closed. No choke. Starts right up and revs to 3000-4000 rpms.

I'm thinking either float height (which i checked and it seemed to be withing spec.) I'm thinking maybe a air leak somewhere?

Thats what I'm thinking too...

Find an old spray bottle, clean it out, and fill it with water. With the engine running start spritzing a mist around the carbs and manifolds, if the idle changes (stumble, rises, stalls) then you have an air leak somewhere.

I'm going to try the spray tomorrow. I ran out of time tonight. I'm really leaning towards an air leak now. I went a clip leaner on the needles and it seemed to work better for a bit. I was just about to take it for a spin and then it started reving again. Its like someone else the kracking open the throttle on me.

I'm having a hard time fitting the carb diaphrams I'm wondering if they are coming out of place. They looked suspicious when I was adjusting the needle. (they seem too small, i'm wondering of the rubber has shrunk... is that even possible?).

She's fighting me every step of the way this year...

Okay I tackled the air leaks. I used a bit of hylomar sealent on the manifolds and it seemed to have corrected the problem.

hylamar from the engine to the manifold? if so just go make some gaskets out of some gasket material

I used the hylomar between the carb and the carb boots and solved my reving idle.
