So I did a yahoo image search for the bandit 400 a couple weeks ago and found a picture of rearsets. When I went to the website it was a Japanese company called Coerce Racing Project, a part of Dax Corporation. I found an importer that got them to my door with tax/shipping for $364 (they're in Encino, CA). They arrived today and look pretty darn cool. Brackets are CNC aluminum, levers are aluminum too. Pegs are folding, knurled and slash cut. The only bad part is that the instructions are in Japanese, but they have diagrams, so I think I can figure it all out. I'm hoping I can find time on the weekend to do the install. My B4 is down right now anyway while I wait for my regulator/rectifier to come in. For anyone who thinks $364 is a little pricey for rearsets on the B4, I'm going to be putting my Raask rearsets on eBay if the assembly of these goes well. I know Wild Hair has the Gimbel rearsets, but I don't like the location of the master cylinder on theirs and the starting price is $360 (not including shipping) and the pegs look fixed.
-
Very cool! Just curious - what made you decide to switch from one make of aftermarket rearsets for another?
-
I was wondering the same thing. Are your rearsets not foldable or something, I seem to remember there being a folding and non-folding set. Good luck and take lots of pics for us!
-
The Coerce set looks a lot cleaner than the Raasks. The pegs on the Raask do fold up, but they are just hinged. The Coerce have a return spring and have a "fixed" appearance the way they are hinged. I'm not sure what the finish is on the Raasks, but it has faded to a hazy gray color. The brake return sping setup on the Coerce is better IMO as well. The Coerce also has rubber pads on brake and shifter which is a little easier on the shoes. I'll try and get some disassembly pics of the Raasks and assembly pics of the Coerce. I'm not sure when I'll get around to it though, it's supposed to be 96 degrees here in Pasadena and I don't have a garage. I'll probably have to wait for evening when there's some shade and it's cooled down.
-
Ok, so I finished the install this evening. It was so easy to do, even with the instruction in Japanese. I'm really impressed with these rearsets. I'll let you know what I think of them in terms of riding once I get the bike back on the road. Here are some pictures. I'm posting the Raask right, Coerce right, Raask Left, then Coerce left so you can see the difference. As you can see from the pictures, the Raask rearsets sat farther back.

The new ones are a lot nicer looking. It might just be the perspective of the pics but they look A LOT further forward. I'll be interested to know what you think of the new riding position.
-
Those look really sharp. Let me know if they make the riding position of you feet farther back. I need some space for my calf musscle after the rear shock mod.

The Coerce pegs are 45mm back and 25mm up from the o.e. pegs. I don't know the exact measurment on the Raask, but they look like they are about the same height as the Coerce, but sit back a good inch or inch and a half more.
-
Wow, those do look good, almost OEM in design. Great find...now clue us all in on where you found them :thanks:

Here is the webpage for the Coerce Rearsets:
http://www.dax.co.jp/coerce/crbs/94bandit400/94bandit400.html
and this is the company that imports them to the U.S.:

I paid for mine with PayPal, which was very convenient.

sweet , but they look just like my stock gsxr 400 assembly might have been a bit cheaper, but now i know where to get the black ones i wanted for my bike from thanks B
-
B - I got a book from japan that has all kinda parts for a b4 from a company called PLOT web site maybe www.plotonline.com
-
Cool, you'll have to let us know if you find any interesting bits in their. The site's a little difficult to navigate since it's almost all Japanese with minimal pictures.
-
Those old ones kinda look like my engine casings...
Did you ebay them yet? I don't remember seeing them, but I might have missed them when I was going through the 'sell the bandit' phase.
How are you liking the new ones?
-
I haven't ebayed them yet. At the moment they're sitting in a box. I don't have the instructions for them since they were on the bike when I bought it, so I wanted to draw up some instruction before putting them on eBay. As for the new ones, I only got to try them out briefly before putting the bike in the shop. I really like the positioning and feel. The only thing I didn't like was that I kept catching the side of my shoe on the shift linkage, but I think I can correct that either by repositioning the linkage or adjusting my riding style and not getting my toe so far under the shifter.

Hey Killer B,
Have you sold your old rearsets yet? As you can see from the photos, I need them desperately, I have worn the toe off of my boot and the end off of my brake lever.

Hey, I'm a novice, gimme a break!!! Besides, I had to cover the rear brake to keep the front end down. yuk, yuk, yuk!!!
-
I used to have the same prob. used my boots for feeler gauges , but they cost alot of loot so i had to find a new way to ride!or a place to cram my foot other than hanging of the end of the peg!
-
They look minter than a tictac

That looks like a nice track for the B4. What track is that and is the whole track as twisty as this part in the photos?

The track is Virginia Int'l Raceway, North Course, same as the AMA races in September. It is a blast with a lot of up and down hills with a good mix of fast and tight turns. They have 2 other track configurations there as well, Patriot is much tighter and "Full Course" is much longer. I have only ridden North as of now, but I think Patriot would be a blast on the B4, I might do it later this year.
-
Nice track.
I'd love to get a few of us and come down there to that track for a day or two but it's 750 miles from us and that is just too far to drive.
Maybe I'll try gsxr400 racer's local track. It's closer to us here in Toronto.
