Title: Importing from Japan to Australia
Post by: tokyo_jim on August 18, 2005, 06:08:44 AM
Hi Guys,

I've been living in Japan the last year or so, and have a '95 GSF250 I'm hoping I can take back to Aus with me.

I've hunted for info through google a bit and am starting to get a better understading of how to do this,  but am wondering if anyone here has attempted to do the same. If so, is there any advice you could give, or if anyone has any info on this, your advice will be greatly appreciated.

Cheers.

I can't offer any real help on what hoops you may have to jump thru to get the bike into Oz, but IIRC, the B250 was never a direct import to Oz, but there are plenty of them that importers have brought in, so I wouldn't think it should be too much hassle to get your bike in.

Have you read the Australian Customs Service web page on importing a motor vehicle? If not, CLICK HERE (http://www.customs.gov.au/site/page.cfm?u=4781) for the page.

Thanks Red01, I found that site to be very helpful. Now I just need to find a good shipping company and I should be right.

See if you can find out who the US Military folks use to ship their stuff back and forth... maybe the outfit does Oz, too?

You're in japan? you could have made a killing by setting up an ebay shop with spares for the 250 :) they're impossible to get outside the jdm.

Heh, yeah, thought about it, but am a bit too busy with other things.

I came across this company that says they can ship new and used bike parts. The website's in english, it might be worth a look-see.

Sorry to correct you Red, but the Bandit 250 WAS an official Suzuki import to the land of Oz for a couple of years in the late 90's, but it couldn't compete with the "Yamaharley" 250 or the Honda CB250 and VTR250

Tokyo Jim - Sumoto (world of 250's) in Melbourne Phone: 03 9329 6066 may be able to help you with import requirements..

My GSF250V is the real thing, a fully Australianised Suzuki Dealer sold jobbie. I think only for 2 years, could be 99 - 00
