Title: More rear shock questions ....
Post by: todius on September 02, 2005, 11:41:08 AM
Most everyone agrees the stock rear shock is too soft.   For some reason, my rear is unusually harsh.  If I hit sharp bumps the ride is jarring almost like a hardtail, and fairly often, I'll hear the motor spin up because the wheel left the ground and didn't return quickly enough.

Just sitting on the bike however, the rear will sag normally and if I get off the bike and push down on it, the shock moves smoothly.  It's almost as if the spring rate is weak and the damping is VERY high.    Is this typical of the B4 shock?  I assumed it would be more of a "mushy" shock that was undersprung & underdamped and would be more prone to wallowing through corners rather than jarring the hell out of me.

I'm wondering if I may have a  diff shock on the bike as I did buy it used (and it had clipons).  There is not any type of reservoir on the shock. (It looks stock.?)

I'm pretty sure I'll be swapping for a GSXR shock in the near future.  My back can't take too much more of this.

Could be a shock off something else, Anybody's guess as to what though. There are several options the B4 crowd is running these days.

Does anybody know if the GSX-R 750 schock is the same as the GSX 750 F (GR78A) from '91 ?

No, they are not the same.
