Title: my b4 is unwell

over the last couple of weeks my bandits been losing charge and developed an intermittant misfire.usually i can bump-start within a few feet, yesterday i noticed the rev-counter needle reading 0 rpm at the same time as the misfire. any suggestions please?

I'd start with a good battery. Then try testing your R/R. Do a search there's lots of talk on here about those going bad. Tach reading 0 means the right coil isn't firing. It might not be getting enough juice. If it still misfires with a good battery and R/R check the wiring. See this thread:

Test the charging system before throwing parts at it!! It could be a loose connection... see the link in my sig for the charging system diagnostic. :grin:

If the rev counters dropping to zero whilst you've got a misfire its a loose connection on the right hand coil. Or it could be a dead cdi.

i wud suggest you clean and tighten all connections on your coils before you do anything dear, always start with the cheapest problem to fix and work your way up lol.

my bike wouldnt start last week and i needed to clean the connections on the coils, they were pretty bad with dirt.

And make sure the connections are crimped tight.  I banged my head against a wall for several weeks with mine dropping two cylinders before I realized one of the plugs coming from the harness to the coil wasn't making consistent contact.

result, coil connections were loose, a quick crimp and we have 4 cylinders and a rev counter. also found rubber cap on carb top was missing from no3. all seems ok now, cheerz for all help

this is a good one happens all the time and needs to go to the f-n-Q :stickpoke:
