Title: Need a little advice for a newbie
Post by: AndrewG on March 30, 2005, 08:46:56 PM
About a year ago I purchased a 1986? maybe 1987 GSXR400. This bike had been brought into the US by a guy in California in the Navy. It has a good California Title. It has about 90,000 Km on it and is in pretty rough condition mechanically. From what I gather it has had the engine replaced with a 400 Bandit motor.
The issues are: It seems that they butchered up the GSXR intakes to use the weirdo 2 into 1 carbs off the gsxr and I think they put in the GSXR cams. Regardless, it runs like crap (also leaks oil like a seive). i am looking for at least a set of bandit carbs and intakes, or perhaps an entire Bandit engine. Otherwise, I will part it out or sell it as is. It is really a cool little bike and very rare for the United States.
  Any advice or suggestions??
Thanks in advance from a newbie,
 -AndrewG

If you do decide to sell it, please let me know.  I'm in Phoenix and would love to get my hands on a GSXR400 as a project.
