New plugs....CR8E or CR8EK?
« on: February 22, 2008, 04:40:31 PM »
Hey all,

I'm thinking of getting new plugs for my bike. I know the manual asks for NGK CR8EK plugs, but after a quick check with my local dealer, they are $15 a piece!

The CR8E is 1/3 the cost, at $5 each. I saw both plugs, and the CR8E seems to be a standard plug, whereas the EK version has two electrodes.

If i recall correctly, the last time I took out my plugs for inspection, they were normal, single electrode plugs.

So do I have to opt for the EK versions? Or should I just stick with the E?

I always just spend the $60... it's a small price to pay once a year. In theory the EK's should last longer and hold a gap better as it only sparks from whichever electrode is closest to ground.

For that money you can have Iridium plugs as well.
