Hello,
I've been rebuilding a '91 Bandit using the service manual and I've run into a little snag. When the bike starts with the choke off it idles at around 4 or 5K. If I open the choke a little it drops to around 1200 RPM. Since this is my first bike I'm not sure if I adjust the idle with the choke closed or open. I'm pretty sure it's closed, but I don't want to mess anything up and be hooped. My worry is that my idle will be super low if I have to start it with the choke open and it won't be able to idle/start properly. Or do you think there's another problem that would be causing this? It has a new air filter, carbs clean, plugs, etc. Any help is greatly appreciated!

adjust the idle with the choke closed and the bike fully warmed up. Certainly, though, you could adjust it down a little bit while you wait for it to warm up
Sure, there are other things that could cause it, but you're most likely candidate, since you've had it torn apart, it the idle adjustment itself.
oh, and, welcome!
