Title: Old and new Bandit same carbs ?
Post by: digitaldan on July 31, 2008, 03:09:13 PM
Hi guys

I have the oppertunity of buying a complete Bandit with a seized crank for cheap. I'm after the carbs since mine has given me endless problems. Just want to make sure if the earlier model Bandit had the same carbs as the later ones. Mine is the 2nd gen VVT with 32 or 33mm Mikuni's. Not sure if I can also use the regulator, coils, CDI etc from the old one but it's still a bargain. The guy wants around $350.

Thanks

There's a good chance your carbs may have a TPS built into them. You'll see an electronic plug near the base of one of the bodies. You would have to check but there's no reason you couldn't run a TPS carb with a non TPS bike. Other way, not so much.

I think the only thing you may be able to use with the exception of the covers may be the coils as the CDI is specific to VVT and non VVT bikes.

I'm guessing, us lucky ones in the states only got single disc bikes with no VVT and 32mm carbs.
