Are there any other model gas tanks that would be a direct replacement for the 400? ie Bandit 600, 1200, GS 500???
What is this special coatings that old metal and fiberglass tanks need to last with today's new fuels?

I think the Bandit 250 tank might interchange... but the 250 Bandit never came to the USA, so you can only source one from another Bandit 400 here.
Kreem is one of the special coatings you are referring to. Don't know if it's compatible with fiberglass/plastic tanks, but it works with the metal tanks of Bandits.

I have a 400 tank I'm refinishing. It was previously treated with Kreem. The coating from that was peeling off in sheets inside the tank, quite a mess. If not done just right that stuff can cause some problems. I filled the tank with paint remover to get rid of it.

I've had mixed reviews about the Kreem. Thx for the input. Hope your petcock didn't get messed up!

Tank didn't come with a petcock. When I finish with it I'll either use my old one or find another one.

I've heard good things about the POR-15 tank kit. People in the 914 world use it with success IF you follow the directions exactly.
