Well I was up in North Bay, Ontario racing in the VRRA series this past weekend. The track is not a permanent one, it is put together every year for this event in September at the airport.
This was my 1st time racing here and the track is very rough and bumpy with many surface changes, lots of cracks with tar sealer on them and does not heat up in the slightest in September. But it's the same for every one and it's a challenge to race there.
In the qualifying heat race on Saturday I got a good start with the little B4. I was using a 13/49 gearing and it just jumped off the line and after the 1st corner I was actually leading the race(1st time ever). By the end of the lap I was in second and then the better racers took over. By the 3rd lap I was a solid 5th and would not have been caught at the pace I was going. At the end of the 3rd lap I low sided and that was the end of my race. Only broke the clutch lever, got a good grind on the clip-on and a scratch on the frame.
I was then 24th on the grid for the final on Sunday because of my DNF. Dead last. Oh well. So I just went out to do what I could at that point. I got a good start but didn't really push too hard. I was about 3 seconds a lap slower than my times from the day before and finished 11th. The B4 is running like a real trooper. She is quick and agile and if it ever gets a decent racer on it, the B4 could get on the podium.
Getting grided up.
On the track.
This is me starting to go down. I was just going too fast, leaned over too far for the surface and the line I was taking. Live and learn.
