Hi all,

I finally got to ride my 1995 Bandit 400 VS after waiting for it to be restricted (in the UK bikes must be under 33bhp if you're under 21), and took it on a 300 mile ride to the coast.

However, I kept sliding to the front of the seat and in to the tank (not very comfortable if you get my drift). Does this happen to anyone else?

The bike was previously owned by someone who used to race it, so the back may have been jacked up, and would explain this. How would I go about finding if it is.

I have the same problem.  My tail is lifted a bit (with a longer shock).  I may have my seat reworked a bit to flatten it back out.  I'm also looking at this stuff:  Stomp Grip (http://www.motorcycle-superstore.com/item.aspx?style=12457&department=643&division=6).  A lot of track day guys are using it to give them more grip on the tank.  I think it would help your problem too.

I made the mistake of putting armoural on the seat of my first bike.  :lol:

Live and learn. At least I didn't put it on the tires.

Here's a little trick that I used on my bike to help save my boys...

You can cheat the seat up by stacking some washers underneath the latch assembly. You'll have to get slightly longer screws because obviously you'll run out of thread if you use more than 5mm of washer. YRMV but give that a try before trying to go to more elaborate means of repair. Total cost: less than $5 US.

I have my knees against the frame, no way to slide to the tank that way.

usually im ok, there have been instances where i hit a dip on the freeway and nut the crap outta my balls. once i hit a dip around 100, almost passed out.

I had my seat custom made, they added 2" of foam in the from of the seat and made a custom cover. Works great cost me all of $75 at custom upholstery shop. I needed to get the seat recoved anyways because my leathers had almost worn the cover right though.

Sounds like a good idea. What material did you get it recovered with? Got any pictures?

Wow, that's a great idea!

This is what I did. (http://www.sargentcycle.com/csfoam.htm)
I had Sargent rebuild the whole thing, spendy, but I got a new cover and different foam.  I know you could have an upholstery place do this too.
I'll post pics of my seat when I get home.
