Shock measurements anyone?
« on: March 21, 2006, 07:03:32 PM »
Just wondering if anyone had some basic shocks measurements...  I know it's 305mm (which is right at 12 inches), but what about the OD of the mounting bolt hole, widtch of the top eyelet and ID of the bottom clevis?

Also, anyone know what spring rate is stock (or they're using, along with rider weight)?

I've got a friend who had a $200 Fox that's at the right legnth, just want to make sure they other measurements are at least Close.  And the spring rate so I can respring and revalve it myself (handy being an ex suspension tech..  heh).

Thanks in advance
Cheers,

Just measured my shock tonight (bought a B12 shock for the B6 and swapping the B6 shock into the B4 for trials).

This is what I came up with.

Width of upper bushing/eyelet is: ~29.75mm.

Width of inside of lower buckle/clevis/fork/u-ey.. whatever ya wanna call it:  ~30.80mm

I measured the length of my shock from bolt center to bolt center at: ~306.2mm.

Both upper and lower bolts are 10mm diameter.

Hope that helps.    :beers:

No idea on the spring rate?  Sorry.

BTW.. the B6 shock measured right at 315mm center-center..

Just out of curiosity Todius, is that from a 1G or 2G B6?

Weel heck, these are the measurements I got for the Fox:

Quote
I measured the following values:

Center of top mounting hole to center of bottom mounting hole: ~313mm (I don't have a good way to do that, since my caliper is an 8" model, so that number is +/- about 1mm)

Top eye diameter: 9.94mm (nominal 10mm, I suspect)

Bottom eye diameter: 9.73mm (again, nom. 10mm)

Clevis inner width: 30.4mm

Clevis outer width: 40mm

Top mounting eye bushing width: 30.14mm

And that looks pretty damn close.  Close enough that I'm going to buy it...  Todius, thanks Tons for not making me have to pull the shock on my bike to do measurements.   :beers:  :thanks:

From a 2G B6.  All other measurements are the same.  Rode it around a bit tonight.  Sits up slightly higher in the rear now.  So far so good.   :bigok:
