Slip-on choices?
« on: March 09, 2005, 07:06:23 PM »
I am in the market for a slip-on can, and I'm having a hard time finding info on the net specific to the 400.

I would appreciate you anyones' input about:

 1. what you have currently (or used in the past)
 2. how much it will piss off the neighbors
 3. jetting/air filter changes that worked best
 4. ease of installation,  etc.

Thanks Peeps...

I've got a Supertrapp disc setup that I purchased brand new off Ebay last year. Installation was a breeze, took two wrenches and a hacksaw, plus about 30 minutes. I run mine with all the  discs installed (loud as possible) and haven't gotten any complaints. It's loud, but not annoyingly so. Cost about $100, plus shipping, and I'd definatly recommend it. Currently I've got a K&N filter installed with stock jets and the needle clip set in the middle. I'll have to fiddle with it when I put the new 33mm carbs on, I'm sure.

I just got my old Corba F1s back from the guy I sold it to.
I'm going to put it up on ebay in a couple of days.
heres a pic of what it looks like
I'm selling it with the head pipes so you don't have to cut up your stock

I put an M4 titanium slip-on on my bandit.  It is a great looking pipe and sounds awesome.  You just need to check specs and find one with a 2" inlet that is clamp on style.

I've had a D&D slip on.  For me, it was too loud.  It def pissed off my neighbors and my in-laws live next door!   :duh:   But, that's what D&D is known for.

Strangely enough, I now have a new M4 TI exhaust just like winslo2 (thanks, Tim!)!  Haven't run it yet.

With the Deaf and Dumb I was using a Factory Pro stage 1 TI jet kit and a K&N filter.  I had a flat spot at 4k when it was cool outside.  Otherwise it ran great.  I don't expect that I'll have to make any changes with the M4.

Hey Rob
Is that a full pipe you got or just a slipon
If its a full pipe you may have to go up a couple of sizes on the main jets.
Thats what happened to me when I put on the full yosh system last year.
Looks like we have a bike dyno here in town now, I'm going to run both of my Yosh pipes the 4 into 1 cyclone and the 4 into 2 into 1 zyclone and see which make more power

Nah - just a slipon.  Let us know how those dyno runs go.  I'm hoping to get mine on a dyno here pretty soon.

Thanks for all the input guys!

I think I was working on the M4 you ended up with Rob- I was looking for a job at the time though, and would have had a hard time explaining to the ball and chain where I got the shiny new motorcycle thingy.  :boohoo:

I will keep my eyes on ebay for the F1, it looks sharp.

Keep the suggestions coming...

The M4 slip-on was good for about 5 horse on the dyno we have at my shop.  More importantly, it made more power everywhere through the rpm range.  On top of that, it looks great and it sounds awesome without making all the neighbors want to kill me.  I leave that to my cruiser.  I know they are happy when I roll the little red bike out of the garage instead of the big black monster.

Sorry 'bout that, gunter!     Chris' setup would be great.

Milisi - that must be an older pic of Chirs' bike with the stocker front end, before he put on one from a Kat.
