Title: SV650 NOSE FAIRING ON BANDOT 400 V
Post by: benallenuk on August 15, 2006, 02:45:01 PM
Hi guys, Ive just parked the bike next to a '2000 sv650s and had a great/crazy idea while walking away.

My bandit 400 v, has clipons and looks very similar to the naked sv650.  I was wondering if the front fairing and side pannels were a viable swap?  has anyone else thought, tried it?

Be interesting to see the end result if you could make it work.....

The SV was my 'other' choice before buying the 400v. I like the half faired style.

I'm intending to have a crack at putting a buell firebolt fairing on my 400. Someone near me is selling the parts cheap, but I'll need to fab up a front subframe to hold them, and re-wire the lights, and probably a dozen other problems that I haven't even thought of yet to get it to work.

I don't think it'll ever work......

^^^ Nothing's impossible with zip ties and duct tape. I'm hoping there's more holding that fairing on then just the zip ties I see!

I hope to do a much better job that that if i end up doing it.  Firstly it'll be the same colour.

There is a auto-jumble in september, I hope to find a few things there.

Ive been playing around in photoshop, what do you think.  My bandit is the '96v.  The one used to doctor was a '91 i think.  It looks ok but there is too much red where the fairing meets the frame.  I think my bike will fit a little better with the engine being black.

Also, thought I'd just mention, the swing arm on a 2000 sv650 is identical to that on the '96v gsf400, same as the front wheel, forks, dual discs.

Cheers

Anybody kind enough to do another Photochop but with a 2nd gen SV fairing instead? I happen to have one in my current possession and have been toying with the idea of putting it on my B4.

That would look sweet (although I prefer the first gen SV look like above.)  You just need create mounting points and figure out the wiring.  If you're creative, you can make just about anything fit.
