Title: The pleasures of living in the south !!!!
Post by: Racerruss-ducati on March 16, 2006, 11:21:11 PM
Dedicated to all of you in the snow belt......

Check the pics of the 1st track day of the new season at VIR with the little B4 (white body #49).

http://www.photoreflect.com/scripts/prsm.dll?eventthumbs?event=03HV009J5K&b=0&t=-1&start=0&password=

More pics and a short video (video won't be available until 3/17 due to site rules) http://www.bikepics.com/members/racerruss/  "the video shows that no matter how fast you are in the turns, you can't pass a GSXR 1000 on the straight" :toofunny:

It has been spruced up with 2001-03 GSXR Airtech body work, clip ons, rear sets, GSXR rear shock, RaceTech springs (heavy fork oil) and a new set of Pilot Race tires.  Took 7 seconds off of my previous best at the track with the changes.  If I can take another 15 off, I will be as fast as Jay, another 10 off of that and I can be midpack in the AMA Supersport class  :bs: .  Oh well, at least the weather was in the 70's and I had a blast.

I'm so @#$%ing jealous I'm just going to criticize

Get your ass off that seat, when in the corner. Those Pilots will hold you up. Besides the bodywork isn't even painted yet, what have you got to lose?
Get the balls of your toes on the pegs(see pic), not the centre of your foot. Only move it when you need to shift. It will give you more leverage and control.
And that photographer sucks. All the shots from the same spot and a half.

So there @#$%, let's see if you go out on the track in mid march and post photos again while I'm still looking at snow here.

Oh yeah, I'm getting tire warmers, slicks and J's piston kit. I'm not on the track until June. :crybaby:

I hope you had fun, really.  :monkeymoon:

Man - I'm jealous, too!  I'm not gettin' on the track until 5/22.

Y'all need to come to the Bandit Alley day at Nelsons.  There will be a TON of track time and maybe a chance to follow Jay around a little (right, Jay?).  See the pinned thread in General for details!

Hey G...  (thread hijack alert!)...  how are your swingarm bobbins attached?  Are they drilled with a nut welded behind or just tapped into the s/a?

It's always the trips to the hospital, the surgery and the recovery that always get me. Otherwise I'd be out there every day I could. Yes, yes I know . . . . . stop crashing, but how are you suppose to know the limit?
