rear suspension on the B4

The rear suspension on the B4 is too soft, that is a known "problem".

I have used a hyperpro spring on mine with the stock shock and it behaves ok.

Others use a B12 or Hayabusa rear unit, you can find posts about it.

I found Hayabusa rear unit picture, seems the rear unit gas tank will touch the b400 water tank... but i haven't try install it. did anyone give me confidence to get it?

*the rear unit with gas tank is from Hayabusa GSX1300R.
the other is from GSF1200 but seems same as b400 one

As I said, I did not change the whole unit, I just fitted a stiffer spring (the shock on my limited edition 400 has compression adjustment)

While the B12 unit looks about the same as what you've got, it is a stiffer shock and has adjustable compression damping.  The 2G unit is a little longer than the 1G and (the 2G) will raise the tail of a B4 around an inch or so.  Pitter put my old B12 shock on his B4 and was pleased with the results.

The Busa shock is a little longer than the 2G B12 piece and will raise the tail ~2".  The Busa shock is also rebuildable, whereas the B12 is not.  Given how cheaply either one can be picked up off ebay of various forums, it's often cheaper to just get another one though.

The Hyabusa shock will not fit with the overflow tank, so an alternative tank set up will be needed.

On my 91' B4 im using a Kintana 750 shock. Its very nice. It handles my weight better and is fully adjustable. Fits well too.
