Fuel tank cap removal ?
« on: November 10, 2005, 12:37:30 AM »
The prvious owner of my 400 thought it looked good to completely paint the fuel cap assembly.
I am assuming to remove it to be polished its just a matter of undoing all the hex nuts ? Will there be a seal which needs replacing ,any hidden dangers?
Thx

Nope, just open the gas cap and remove the 4 hex screws that hold the assembly in place.  :beers:

Yeah - only 4 of the 8 bolts actually attach the thing to the tank.  There is no gasket.  FWIW, it's the same bolt pattern as the newer Zuks.  I replaced my cap with one from an SV.  Looks great!  I do have to carry two keys, though.
