What do you think.
Specs: 02 GSXR 1000 suspension front and back.
02 Wheel, calipers and rotors.
05 triple clamps and mirrors.
Home made front fender- from an 02 GSXR.
If anyone wants to try this I can answer any questions

how do you like the riding position now though?
and how much higher has the seat gone up?
or did it come down?
what size wheels are you using now?
& how'd you get the speedo & tac to work?

That is really cool looking! Nice. May I ask (I've meant to for some time) exactly why they've started turning the forks upside down? I can't picture how rightside up or upside down would change anything. I mean, it compresses, then it decompresses. Is it just a cosmetic thing? Something to do different on bikes that otherwise always look the same?

USD forks are stiffer offering less flex or movement in the most extreme riding conditions. For most street applications it doesn't make much difference but on the race track it can make a huge difference.
They can also be a nice upgrade because most USD units are adjustable cartridge forks and should perform better than right side up damping rod forks.
It also looks cool as hell.

I sort of figured it was gonna be some extreme race track thing originally. I'm thinking of doing it, but it takes me a long time to make a final decision. In the meantime, today I ordered Progressive springs and a Holeshot fork brace. What the heck, right? Maybe that'll be enough for me.

did the tripple tree fit without any mods been done to the head tube or
was there alot of work involved :?: did u manage to take pictures as you went along with
upgrade to the front end or is that the only pic u hav at the mo ?
The front mudguard you fashioned is in true streetfighter style and is frikkin awesome

I will try to answet everyones questions.
Cruz- No the ride hight did not change and the riding position is alot more agressive. But gsxr400racer can tell you all about that. As far as the wheel size it is still a 17 so there is no difference. The tire size has chaged from a 110 to a 120 makes the bike feel a bit lazy. But it compensates in more than enough to not make it an issue.. The speedo- I an using a cateye astrale 8 which is the one of two bicycle speedos that will work. I will use the stock as soon as I have a longer cable made to fit the rear wheel.
Gsxr400racer- Yes the brakes are a bit over the top. All I hava to do is think of stoping and it comes to a hault. As far as the rear tire. I am in the prosses of looking for a sv 650 swing arm that will fit a 160 tire. Or even a single sided swing arm if I can find one that will fit.
PitterB4- I have to tell you that it handles like a dream. The bike feels like its glued to the ground and there is nothing I can do wrong. My confidence is up by 1000%
Lowkey- The triple tree conversion was pretty staight . I swaped the stems and it worked pretty straight up. Sorry I have no photos. I get cought up in the moment and I forget to take photos. I am also a painter ( murals ) and I can't explain how it happens I just know it does.
Desolation agel.- Your question threw me for a loop. I Can only guess that its because the USD forks allow for a wider, longer, harder spring to fit without interuption from the triple clamp. Making the bike more stable. I will do the resurch and get back to you on this. However I just like the way it looks. I just looks pretty damn cool.

WOW! so what kind of "CUSTOM FABRICATIONS" did you have to do or was it basically a direct fit? I've been thinking about doing a '93 front end conversion but this looks so much nicer.

Are you certain that the sv wheel will fit the stock swingarm with no mods? I was afraid that it would not line up.

The CUSTOM FABS were the healight brackets that fit into the forks, The front fender, and the mirror brackets. The mirror brackets were a bit tricky. But if you want to try I can give you step by step info. It involves destroyin the old upper triple. I also had to re position the steering stopers and the steering lock. I think I might have to drop the radiator because my turning radius has increased. but not by much so I might just leave it as it. Oh yeah and I am now using I bicycle speed until I get the stock one extended to fit the rear wheel. But now I think I will wait until I get an SV rear wheel.[/quote]

Oooooh! A guinea pig to try an SV wheel! I can get one pretty easily/cheaply (with some decent 160 track rubber). I've wanted to give that a shot but been too consumed with all the other stuff I'm doing to try. Please let us know how that goes!

alternatively why not use a 73a braced swinger from the sp or the rgv250 banana or braced swinger! They all take a 160 rear!

Looks good, although I would have tried to make a GSXR 750/1100 wheel fit. That way you wouldn't have two different rims and you'd have a working speedo. If your turning radius has increased, why not decrease it to the stock value so you can leave the radiator as it is?

Well thank you for the compliment. Yes I was goin to go with a 1100 front end but I prefered the look of the the gold forks. I bought a very cool looking 05 triple clamp for $7+$5 for SH. Can't beat that price.the 05 clamps do not line up with the rotors from the 1100 you speak of. And the axle from your choice 1100 wheel is way too small for the fork, Too much trouble and $$ to make it work. As far as rear mis-match wheel I will use an SV650 wheel that will match, which will also give me a larger tire and I am waiting for the longer speedo cable that will run from the rear wheel so that will not be an issue. for now I am using a Bicycle speedo that is more acurate than the stock. Now the radius is only a problem if I have to manuver in tight spaces. Very rarely does that happen. The problem is that the lowere triple hits the radiator, so either I move the radiator down about 1" (About 10mm) Or grind the clamp which will make it useless. If you have any sugestions that will make it work without doing either of the two I have mentioned I am listening. I would love to fix that very minor problem if you have a solution. :beers:

there is no rear wheel mod that directly fits you will have to line it up with spacers maybe get the sprocket carrier milled to line up the chain , but it will fit in with out haveing to change the swingarm!

you mean 750,1000 and you will never get it to work there is not enough on the sprocket carrier to mill to line up the chain. you have to have a custome rear sprocket made at $80.00 a pop i dont think you all wanna do that!
