Title: what brand of exhaust are you running?
Post by: KSUGreggy on September 06, 2005, 06:00:13 PM
My Bike currently has a B&B on it...im thinking of looking for another brand as the previous owner had it on there and its not quite my style...what brands do you guys have and how do you like them?

I have a Yoshimura RS-3 stainless, originally from a GSX-F 750. This is mostly for the looks, the sound is not deep or loud but sounds nice. Next to that one I have a Micron, I believe it is for a ZXR 400 which makes is ideal for my Bandit 400. Deep and loud sound and less reversed pressure than the Yoshimura. It runs leaner with the Micron can. I'm still looking for another Yoshimura for a bike with an engine like mine.

I run the Yoshimura exhaust originally designed for the bandit 400. It looks a bit retro now but its loud and I like it.

I have both a Yoshimura Cyclone and Zyclone pipes as well as the original pipe.

I have a Yoshimura Cyclone, but it's not on the bike yet.  :boohoo:

Prior to that I was running a Supertrapp Slipon on the stock header, sounded pretty good. People mistook it for a 600 quite a bit.

Ok, I'll be the one to pick on the new guy...   Actually, this is the second time after calling KSU the Jayhawks.

You sure that's not a D&D you have there or are you and your new bike spending the weekend in a beatiful old home and being served a large meal in the morning?  I had a D&D slip on and it was too loud for me (well, for my neighbors anyway).  I've now got an M4 TI can.  It sounds awesome.  Although, I'm not sure if my helmet is wearing a little and letting more sound in or if the can is getting louder.  I can definitely hear it more now.  I may go back to the earplugs I got for the D&D.

ok D&D your right...jeez...cant believe the lack of sleep from school is geting to me already....so there are pipes out there that are significantly quiter than the D&D ive got now?  i think this one could get pretty annoying to people and myself

All exhausts break in, they usually get a bit louder as the packing gets coated with carbon and even starts to break down a bit.

The Borla I had on my Rabbit did it the most noticably; from smooth and mellow to a bit like smoking unfiltered cigarettes in the two years I've had it on the car. No other changes besides.

On the bike I have a Cobra slip-on (was on there when I got it). Rob's is a bit mellower, the Cobra definately is a bit louder. I'm sure it was quieter the billion years or so when it was first put on but I would never know. The whole can is welded as well so there's no chance in repacking it.

D&D has the rep of being THE loudest pipe.  They're referred to as Deaf and Dumb by many.

Remember Randy, I was only running on 2 cylinders a lot of that day!  LOL.

I'm partial to the Supertrapp slipon. If it's too loud, just remove a few disks, and it gets quieter. I ran mine with all the disks in it without any real complaints, but then, I like loud.

Another vote here for the Supertrapp.  I have a D&D on my SecaII and a Supertrapp on the B4.  The D&D is LOUD!!  The Supertrapp sounds pretty good.. deep grunty sound.. (IIRC I'm running 6 discs).  Can't compare it to a stock can though. :/

The stock can sounds... I dunno, kinda like a moped on steroids.

I think he's in Kansas...

If I can get my Yosh mounted up, then I'll have a lightly used Supertrapp that I could part with. It's only been on the bike about a year, never dropped, although I believe it does have a few small scratchs on it from when I moved last. Unfortunatly I don't have the instructions, fortunatly it's not hard to figure out!

I'd say learn to ride the bike first, then worry about mods  (refernce to the shift pattern question...and yes you have the pattern correct).  I'm guessing he's in Manhattan, KS...but the screenname gave that one away.
