Hi guys can any body tell me if there is a swap or replacement for a 400vc rectifier/regulator somewhere. as i'm doing a rebuild project and the last owner dumped the old one. :duh: I've tried Ebay but no luck, any help would be very welcome :thanks:

You don't really need a gsf400 specific R/R. In fact, a newer MOSFET-type from any number of other newer bikes would be a nice upgrade.
I've installed a '07-'08 Yamaha YZF-R1 R/R on my Bandit 400 project bike. The only technical bit that you have to sort out when you install a different R/R is the connectors (I found the correct ones at Easternbeaver.com). The Yamaha unit is slightly larger than the original Bandit R/R which required some modification to the original bracket.
So what I'm saying is that you can broaden your search a lot, look at everything that's available, find something newer and better that's about the right size, preferably with MOSFET technology instead of old-school Thyristors, get the necessary connectors and install it.
Here's some information about what's possible: http://www.superhawkforum.com/forums/knowledge-base-40/mosfet-regulator-rectifiers-why-how-25117/ (http://www.superhawkforum.com/forums/knowledge-base-40/mosfet-regulator-rectifiers-why-how-25117/)

Or... if you want to go really cheap I'll mail you my Bandit's old R/R, no charge.
(So far I've given away the CDI box that I don't need any more (to T6nis in Estonia), the slightly dented and lightly rusted original fuel tank (to Bagtf3 in St. Charles, MO) so sending another unneeded part to a new home is just business as usual.)

Damn, if u would have been quicker, i would have been able to send you a rectifier. But, I would trust Greg. He did send me his CDI and it worked like a charm. I think i know where the "good-guy-Greg" meme got its inspiration from.

Thanks Greg that would be great. send me your email I'm not sure how yet. All so when going through the box of bits i was given found a r/r for a SV 650 any ideas if it would be any work? Just strange it's in their :banghead: also if anyone has a 98 bandit 600 type yoke that they want to swap for a 400 yoke and clip on's feel free to message me. :thanks:

GS500 uses the same rectifier/regulator :).

I'm guessing you figured out a solution? You don't want my old Bandit R/R?
