Title: Wiring Diagram Proofing Help?
Post by: mosquito on October 13, 2009, 03:56:22 AM
I'm about to do a bunch of electrical mods to my B4 and wound up colorizing the '91-'92 / Canada-USA wiring diagram.

Would anyone be willing to proof it for me before I make it public?

I've always made out fine with the factory diagram. Then again, I had to teach myself how on older VWs using a Bentley.

I'll have a look tonight. You must be bored if you went that far!

Thanks.  It was fun in a nerdy kind of way.

I think there's a copy of the service manual in the Downloads area , but it's named "GSF400 Owners Manual".  (I haven't looked at that to verify though.)

This is what I started with: http://homepage.mac.com/mosquito/file/GSF400%20Wiring%20Diagram.pdf

ETA: fixed

The owner's manual is exactly what it says. It's a scan of my ( Dita's) owner's manual.  It does have a wiring diagram in it, it's the one I used to troubleshoot her when she started popping the main fuse one day.

The service manual should be titled as such, and is also in the downloads section.  I didn't like the wiring diagram in that one as much, I found it harder to read.

mosquito, when you're finished with the wiring diagram, we can host it here.  Just post a link for me and I'll get it into the downloads.  Your other ones are on the server, but I forgot to make them public.  I will try to do that today.

edit: k, they're there now.

The pretty colors!

Sorry man, was unable to take a look at it until today. Been busy with car stuff as winter is on it's way here in PA. It looks good, certainly easier to read than the factory one.

Thanks, stormi.  I'd been thinking it *couldn't* be the Owner's Manual 'cause of its size, but it looks like I was wrong and it can. :)  For hosting it here, that was the plan / hope.  I figured if I were going to go to the trouble of tracing and marking and sussing some of the circuits I might as well make it very usable and share.

Np, tomacGTi.  I knew we'd get to it sooner or later and that's all good 'cause few of us want to get rid of the bikes. :)

Yeah, I think it's just because of the way I scanned it.  My scanner likes to make a big deal out of everything. :)

I can definitely host it here. just send me a PM once you have it ready.  I'm not getting to the forums as often as I'd like, but I am keeping up the admin stuff behind the scenes.

mosquito, have you had a chance to go any further with this color diagram?
