Which Oil Filter?
This is a good poll to go hand in hand with the recent oil poll...
Which oil filter brand do you use?

OEM Suzuki 26 / 39.4%
Perf-Form 7 / 10.6%
K&N 7 / 10.6%
Fram (I sure hope not!) 4 / 6.1%
Other (specify) 22 / 33.3%

oil filter
--- I'm currently trying out amsoils new motorcycle oil
filters with their full synth 15w40 diesel oil. If this
combo works out as I hope, oil changes every
4-5k miles or better should be achievable at a cost
of a bit over $20. Oil tests will verify where the
mileage cutoff is.

Re: Which Oil Filter?
I've read some bad things about Fram - enough so that I don't use them in my cage anymore.
Another filter I've seen people use on the Bandito is STP, but from what I can gather, it's a hit-or-miss quality risk.

Re: Which Oil Filter?
STP or Purolator are fairly good filters. Avoid Fram at all
costs. Their major problem is that they use a cardboard
backing that could cause dirty oil to leak past the filter.
Two fairly new filters on the market that should be fairly
good are amsoil and k&n. The k&n is a bit expensive ($12)
but has nut on the end so you can tighten or loosen it
with a 17mm(I think) wrench. The amsoils around $7 and
should work well also. They both are multi-media filters;
containing paper, fiberglass and various synthetics for their
filter media.
Take a look at this this site for some more info:

filter
I use the STP mo18, but have also heard that the manufacturing changed. I'll use up my last 4 before looking for anything other than Fram.
It's a shame too... I like how they put that nut on the end of the filter...

Re: Which Oil Filter?
I voted other. I use Emgo oilfilters out of JC-Whitney or Dennis Kirk because they are over $10 cheaper than the stock OEM-Suzuki filters and if you buy them in bulk (my dad's Intruder 1500 uses the same oil filter) it's a hell of a lot cheaper. Haven't had any problems with them and neither has my dad. And they're cheap enough I'm not emptying out my pocket book to change them every oil change. I never not change it, it just dosen't feel right not to.

Re: Which Oil Filter?
I see a few votes for the Fram.
Here's why the Fram is a poor choice:

Oil Filter P/N's
Here's some oil filter p/n's for the B6/12 - and many other Suzukis - maybe one of you B2.5/4 folks can verify if these are for you, too...
If you have one I missed (and I thought I had more, but couldn't find where I stored the longer list), feel free to speak up.

STP from Autozone. Oh, and just switched to standard Mobil One, 10-40.
So far so good. No clutch slippage that I've noticed.

Re: oil filter
IMHO - you'll be fine with any of the ones in my P/N list post above, with one exception, the Fram.

Re: oil filter
I used the STP SMO-18 filter. It was one of two that I could find locally ($5.99 at AutoZone), and the other one was Fram.
