Manufacture years for the naked B12?

I'm going to be buying a naked B12 (Not S). I couldn't find any info on them on Suzuki's web site, just the 1200S model. Did Suzuki only make them for 2001 to 2003?

Also is this color correct for the color per year:

2001: Red or Black
2002: Silver
2003: Green or Silver
Correct???

For US market only!
2001-2003 is the correct range for the naked version. The naked B12 has been discontinued for 2004 in the US. I don't remember if the '02 B12N was available in blue, like the S or not, but otherwise the colors sound correct to me. I know the '01 is correct, becuase the only two B12N's I've seen were a red and a black '01.

For the rest of the planet
The 1G B12's (and B6's, and all other sizes of Bandits) were available in "N" models. The naked version is still available in other markets in 2004 & 2005. Colors vary by year and market.

Since it sounds like you're going to be buying used (unless you can find a leftover), don't rule out good deals on "S" models. You can convert an "S" into an "N" - or perhaps even find one already converted. The 1G B12 will be a little easier to convert since their clocks aren't part of the fairing.

I noticed you were searching for a B12 on another thread...and willing to travel. Be sure to search Cycletrader.com for new leftovers. Seems like there used to be be quite a few new leftover bandits in CA everytime I searched.

Or just get a 97-98-99-2000 and sell the fairing which will pay for the headlight and brackets and signals you'll need

Re: Manufacture years for the naked B12?

Thanks for the suggestions. I've been watching cycletrader and have found some pretty good deals. My local dealer has a 02 that is new for $5699. But I checked the VIN # and the bike is one of the ones that has the O ring issue. I've also found a nice used 01. But the owner has never had the pistons replaced. Does anyone know if Suzuki will replace a 01's pistons and rings now that it is out of warranty?

Re: Manufacture years for the naked B12?

I think you meant piston rings, not O-rings... but even piston rings isn't exactly correct, the problem is oil return holes that break out in the oil ring lands. All the B12's in the VIN number range you looked at will have this feature - it's a crap shoot if the bike will be an oil consumer or not though.

Yes, Suzuki will fix bikes out of warranty - or at least they were once they finally admitted to the problem. Now that '01's are almost 3 years old, they might give an owner static, especially if the bike has many miles on it.
