stock chain question

when you count chain links do you count the pins or the metal pice it self. how many links dose a stock 1996 b6 have in the chain thanks

Count the pins. You should always come up with an even number.
Stock gearing chain length on the B12 is 110, but the B6 has a larger rear sprocket, so it's probably longer, but I'll defer the answer to a B6 owner.
