A while nack I picked up a 2002 Bandit 1200S. The bike ran great but in my quest for more power I decided to perform some upgrades.
I bought and installed the following performance items:
Yosh RS-3
Ivan's jet kit
I also replaced the following before the jet kit
plugs
and performed the following
removed the PAIR system/installed blockoff plates
detached the air/oil breather hose from the airbox and hooked it up to an air-filter
After the jet kit install(done exactly by the instructions including the air box mod) my bike would pop when running as follows:
Idle: 1200 rpm (pops every 5-10 seconds)
3000-4000 rpm: (pops once in a while when at constant throttle)
4000+ rpm: runs great
Throttle cut from high rpm (5000+) = pops as well
When the bike is cold it does not pop but after warm-up (1-2 minutes) it will not stop popping. Day conditions do not matter.
I'm not really sure what is going on here. I was thinking maybe my air filter is really dirty and causing the bike problems??
Any ideas or help would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you

Double check all vacuum hose connections and the carb boots. Do not over-tighten the carb boot as this can cause improper mixtures. Make sure the vacuum hose to the (now removed) PAIR valve is plugged as well.

+1 on the carb boots. I had a similar issue when adding my stage one. Readjusted the boots and am left with a slight pop on hard decel

Thank you!!!!
So, how tight should I screw my boots down? I remember tightening them as much as I could during the install...
I will try the fix tonight and tell you how it works out. :)

Sorry for the lack of response. Here's what I did to get the bike running well.
1) checked all boots (all were fit well and adjustments did not make any difference)
2) checked vacuum lines (no leaks)
3) replaced air filter (no improvement)
4) used a digital laser thermometer to check header pipe temps. Noticed cylinder 1 is much colder (50-60 degrees) than cylinder 4 and cylinder 2 and 3 are aligned well. So that tells me something is wrong with cylinder 1. Checked spark plug to ensure proper torque and ignition wire was tight, no difference. I then began to slowly adjust the air/fuel mixture and everything started to start aligning up. In the end I needed an adjustment of about 1.5 turns out on cylinder 1 which resulted in no more popping, much better power, and overall made the bike run great.
I took her out for a quick spin and 1st gear roll-on lifted the front without any input from me, so she's back to running right again.
