Hello all,

My front brakes have plenty of stopping power - so much so that they grab with little effort at the brake lever.  They're not a problem as they are but they could 'feel' better - by this I mean that I'd like to have more gradual control at the lever.  The brakes operate quietly, the rotors are good, and the front pads have plenty of life left in them (just under 4k miles on them).  I don't know what type/brand pads are on it right now.

Should I be looking at the pads for improvement?  If so what brand/type?  Any other suggestions?

You might want to consider an upgrade to ss braided lines. Spiegler makes a nice set:  http://www.spieglerusa.com/

You many want to give the brakes a good bleeding.  If your fluid is slightly contaminated with air, it compresses more easily.  This could cause your "all or nothing" brake feel.  If bleeding doesn't do the trick, look to some SS lines like the above post said.  Old lines will expand giving you a bad feel.
