Title: 2004 Bandit 600S front end swap
Post by: El Dopa on March 07, 2006, 09:36:17 PM
Hello all.

I'm in the market for a new bike. I've been looking at the 600N - fully naked Bandit models. I just had a look at a 2004 Bandit 600S - the semi-faired version, at a wreckers.

It's in pretty good shape. The main non-cosmetic damage is to the front forks - they're bent and twisted fairly severely.

I've had a look round the forums here and found this thread:

http://forums.banditalley.net/viewtopic.php?t=197

My question(s) is:

Can anyone give me an idea how much work and dollars would be involved in converting this to a fully naked bike? I'd be reasonably keen on taking this on as a project if it isn't going to bust the bank and end up being a real pain in the arse.

The main change would be to swap out the front end. Does anyone know if a GSXR front end can be fitted fairly easily to the '04 bandit 600? I don't want to get involved in a lot of mods to the frame if I can help it.

Also, I'd need to remove the half-fairing, relocate the instruments/speedo and replace the front lights. Would this be fairly straightforward, or is it going to be a slog?

Any and all advice appreciated.

Rich

That thread on the fork swap works for ANY Bandit.

You will have to figure out a way to mount instruments as the 2G S models and the GSXR's don't mount instruments to their upper triples like the 1G and naked Bandits do.

Thanks.

You could possibly mount the instruments direct from the headlight bracket. The 2005 Triumph speed triple looks like it has adopted this mounting method.
