Hi all
I now have some Engine/Crash bars (off ebay) and I am going to fit them asap, the rear fitting seems to require the long thru bolt (engine mount?) to be removed. Do I need to support the engine before removing it??
Also do I need to get longer frame bolts for the front and lower fittings (no bolts came with the bars).
If all the above sounds dim I apologise but I am not very mechanically minded.
Thanks for your help (will post pics of bike soon - when the english weather is nice enough to get the bike out!!!)
Cheers
Steve H

As long as the bolt threads come all the way thru the nut, you don't need longer bolts.
If you can take them out one at a time, you'll be OK.

OK thanks for the info, but what about supporting the engine regarding the rear fitment?

Which guards are you trying to mount?
How many engine bolts need to be out at one time to facilitate installation?
Nevermind... try this:
If you have any punches or screwdrivers or similar improv tools, remove the bolt(s) that go thru the whole engine and insert such tool from the nut side, install the guard on the bolt head side of the engine first. When you push the bolt(s) back in, then you can do the other side.

You're a genius, I never thought of that. I will try it hopefully at the weekend and let you know how I get on.
Many thanks for your help,
